    Its really easy to explain.

When as a man you go from 30 to your mid 30s, your physical deterioration accelerates.

There is a reason why former HW world champions over the age 35 fighting again for a title have such a bad record.

    Biology.

Being cut like an adonis makes no difference whatsoever. Haye just got old and he was having big problems even when he was late 20s and early 30s, it hardly improves when you are 36.

Haye was hardly wonderful in his late 20s and early 30s, given the fact he practically retired at 30 for 4.5 years.

ALL of those injuries stay with you at 36- you dont come back a new man.

I also agreed he was carrying far too much bulk for his frame, and this slowed him down. He look overly bulky. But if truth be told- previous injuries and age was the biggest factor.

Yes I agree with all the factors. I also believe he is not the hardest working trainer compared to a lot of other boxers. Haye has not had a lot of fights for someone who made his debut in 2002. In between fights and long periods of inactivity he will not have looked after himself.

How much sparring did Haye do? I am thinking barely any as his timing was so far off. It looked like a guy who hadn't boxed for months.

Timing was off due to the achilles injury from the start. Why you think he was swinging like a mad man?

Hence the lack of sparring. Like it or not Haye's camp was strange. Weeks in Miami doing what?

it does rather explain how heavy David was, that's a classic sign of An injury but obviously it is a lot of conjecture. Surely it can't have been a deliberate choice to be that heavy when fighting a lighter guy

Especially as they said he would be coming in built for speed.

Haye was clearly injured going into the fight, hence why he wasn't setting up his shots properly or throwing the straight left right like he always does. How debilitating it was up until the 6th only he knows.

And when he was throwing bombs, it reminded me of the Klitschko fight, in that he looked unconfident in his movement and therefore tentative to follow it up.

Or he could just be old and slow.. But the lack of humility and acknowledgement of the injury from pro Bellew supporters is frankly bizzare.. Hearn and co jumping into the ring to celebrate like he had just knocked a prime David Haye out cold in the first round of a title fight.

Can he still throw that straight right?

Again bellew mentioned in the fight presser that the shoulder surgery meant Haye couldn't throw that punch anymore.

    Yaye wasnt injured

    1. hes wasnt much good to begin with. He ran from a 40something cruiser after getting his head ripped off by him, and defended against sub-euro Fraduley and enzo.
    2. hes 36, thats old in sports terms.
    3. he bulks up too much, which costs him dramatically. If he'd shed those muscle slabs he'd have had a better career, being a fitter, more lithe boxer and being less injury prone probably.

Course, ever since he stubbed his toe, hes not been the same.

I see where you are coming from but it's best not to acknowledge injuries publicly, right after the fight David himself said, "you don't know what injuries Tonys has."I think there is an element of luck in any sport, one of one fight has a bad night sleep or food poisoning. Also seems pretty damn mean to take away Tony's victory particularly after all David's trash talk, most of the pundits had Tony without a chance.

Bellew was losing on the scorecards before the injury. Then he failed to KO a static target.

I see your point now. I'd assumed Haye was injured more recently.
