see...IMO his showing in a "stacked" lhw division isnt really indicative of how he'd fare against ggg......smith could get beat/outboxed against the top lhws....and he still might be too big and strong/tough for a guy like golovkin...golovkins fans claim hes a small mw on some days when they want to defend ggg....other days they act like he can beat all of 175......id lean towards the former ......so...there are levels....a decent sized mw against even an average skilled lhw isnt an easy task
That's my feeling too, although if GGG beats Canelo this year or early next, I would be not surprised if the eventually "final" money fight is a chance for Canelo to avenge a previous loss against an older GGG. If Jacobs, Canelo, or someone else beats GGG, I think he likely stays in the division and rematches them / retires if he loses again.
I personally do not see moving up weights now as proof of greatness compared to fighters who have already done similar moves so many years ago. Science, Technology and the end of same day weigh ins ended me being that impressed with a fighter moving up weights.
That's completely true, however I only said it would give us a better idea, not the final answer. Put it this way, if he gets a few more good wins at LHW I'd tend to favour him, if he gets destroyed by journeyman in his next fights I reckon GGG copes with him. Ah yes, I agree with that too. FWIW I think he's an average-size MW, maybe a little on the small side but nothing drastic. And of course beating a decent contender two divisions up could well be difficult. You are right that some GGG fanboys will argue he's small when talking about Ward, and big when talking about his chances of moving up successfully. That being said, I also have to point out that some GGG haters also vary their estimates of GGG's size (e.g. there's one poster on here who thinks GGG is a giant MW who should be at LHW or at least SMW, others who think he's tiny and ought to have given Canelo 155 lb).
I think as soon as he fought Canelo he moves up in weight. After Canelo, there is no one left he has to fight at this weight. SMW is not really intresting though.
If & its a big IF He manages to lure the other 160 trinket holders into fighting & holds all the belts Then he';ll move up to 168 & repeat the procedure, IF he can get them to fight him
He will stay at MW. He might go to SMW to fight Ramirez and Degale, then move back down and just do catch weights for money and pass the torch to other fighters.
The man pounds Mexican food ever day for training with Abel and still comes in at 158. Small middleweight. Ward should be ashamed of himself
For calling out a guy two clear weight divisions below and could be 3 of he didn't train on tacos and burritos.
