First Beterbiev/Barrera, Now Brook/Spence Jr? If so this has been a bad news week for boxing. A Brook/Khan really isn't much conciliation.
@EddieHearn there are rumors swirling that Brook vs Spence is off or delayed, is there any truth to either? Eddie Hearn‏Verified account @EddieHearn no
Honestly, as much as i want to see this fight, Im not gonna hold it against brook too much if he pulls out and moves to 154. Hes outgrown the division... it happens. He was killing himself to make 47 as it is... throw in him fighting well above that his last fight and him also being pretty heavy right now, and trying to fight at welterweight again is actually just kinda stupid.
This content is protected Original source of the rumors kind of walking back what he said. Seems like there was a May 20th date that fell through so there might be a June date instead. Just cause a date falls through doesn't mean the fight is done necessarily. I would just wait but keep demanding answers.
It is rumours, so don't take this as gospel but at the same time I find it weird the date falls through as Khan fight falls apart, could be coincidence never the less.
I hope it goes thru, it is a great from two boxers being almost both at there peak. It seems that the Mayweather way of ducking everybody is almost behind us. Yes there is still Canelo not fighting GGG, or Ward being again the primadona he always has been (props to him taking Kovalev though), but we are seeing great fight nowadays.
I wouldn't give him a pass if he fought at 47 again. Only if he moved to 54. (Though, realistically, i think a pac fight probably should give him a pass imo. As good as spence is... pac is still a top 5 welter, and biggest possible fight at welter. At some point the reality of a big prestigous fight against an atg thats still a top tier welter has to outweigh the spence fight) So probably Pac aside... if he fights again at 47 i wouldn't give him a pass. Just imo tho.
This content is protected eddie has been saying for weeks the fight will not happen may 20th.He also said on an IFL interview that if is isn't may 27th then the back up is june 3rd at the o2, again nothing new.. I found it odd media outlets were still reporting the may 20th date when hearn has been consistantly saying for weeks it wont be may 20th
Brook has been through a lot recently in his personal life and he was in a war with GGG. He might be better off stepping back and taking more time off to think about where he is in his life.
He can't duck this one, he is too far gone. If he doesn't fight Spence then it will be looked upon as a cowardly act and the Brits don't like cowards. His stock would drop like a rock. ( straight down )
