Despite having fought real good opposition over a long stretch, yes, I'm afraid so. Mostly has to do with his personality, quotes made about himself and other boxers, being positioned well by sanctioning bodies and promoters with a fan base and still not quite fighting the greatest of opposition, considering the above mentioned. All that said, I give respect when it's due and Khan is 10-3 against titlists. That includes Maidana, Malignaggi, Kotelnik, Judah, Alexander, and old Barrera. He has lost to 3 of the 4-5 best fighters he has faced which I think a lot of the hate comes from, but hey, he's got a good dozen and a half relevant victories so that's much more than we can say about a whole lot of fighters we discuss.
If Khan is a joke what does that make all the opponents he has beat? and all the fighters (brook inc) who's resume's are worse? Why do you think so many current boxers give him high praises when they are asked about him? Unless they are bitter and in a rivalry with him (Brook & Bradley mainly) Khan is at best a B level fighter....but despite all his flaws when he shows up he can put on a schooling and it will be exciting...his flaws are part of the reason he is still relevant...this sport is a buisness people want to see a vunerable but exciting fighter.
I agree. He's exciting if not for anything because you know his chin can always fail him. There's always a chance of a finish. Would definitely love to see Khan fighting as often as he can, I think the only thing I have against him is him not getting in the ring that much lately. I don't mind his character, it just makes it funnier when he's doing the chicken dances. Would like to see more guys like Khan (purely boxing-wise) at the top just for the fun of it, assuming they're fighting regularly and not ducking. Guys with fast hands who like to become aggressive but have absolute glass chins. Imagine some undisciplined fighter who is even quicker than Khan, packs some serious power but has even worse chin. He comes to fight and starts to throw light quick combos from the first second and tries to outbox guys with speed first like Khan, then after 3rd or 4th round he just throws caution out of the window and goes in the kill or be killed mode. Probably the most exciting fighter I could think of. Every fight ends with a finish.
I'll settle this once and for all. Yes, Pakistan's Amir Khan is a joke and has a disgraceful chin. Wilder is going to follow in his footsteps as soon as he fights someone who boxes professionally and has a pulse.
Amir Khan suffered from having the wrong team around him, along with turning pro too early and too immature
I'll watch dude fight Win/Lose. Not sure why people hate on him so he got KTFO a couple of X's... it's the fight game chit happens
biggest joke of boxing? no... that award will go to Floyd if he actually fights connor McGregor for his 50th fight.
At least Khan had the gonads to move up and challenge Canelo. When Golovkin was asked to do the same vs Ward his plums withered away into prunes and shrunk up into his pelvic area.
khans skills can not be denied he flashes greatness. But his problem is he starts admiring his own work during bouts and gets carried away and then gets ktfo. lol. (rule of combat never ever underestimate your opponent.)
Pity Ward never had the stones to fight GGG. He was so shocked by his near miss he had to have a cup of warn milk and fought Alex Brand instead
