GGG will never be just a footnote in athletic history.

... only in this Hagler / Hearns it will be Hearns trying to turn it into a back alley brawl.

Or could end up more like the thrilling battle between Jamie Garza vs Juan Menza for 122 lb
    WBC title !!

Could be like Hagler vs Hearns or a classic?

Only if Jacobs chin holds up...

which based on Jacobs previous performances....

and based on the fact that GGG is the heaviest puncher P4P in boxing....

    is unlikely.

GGG is 35, most definitely not prime.

Paulie says the same thing here, but really can't seem to make up his mind about the fight.

For what it's worth, I think Dontae's analysis in this vid is very confused.

I think it's strange people are expecting an all out brawl when both guys are veteran boxers who will be wary of each other's power.

I expect a GGG-Lemieux type fight here, with both guys boxing and GGG coming forward and cautiously landing his power shots as he looks to break Danny down. Then at some point GGG will put his foot on the pedal and try to take Danny out.

Danny's variable will be, how good is his defense, will he be able to hurt GGG at any point, and how long will he be able to endure GGG's shots to the head and body.

I hope it's a great fight, and I suppose it could be, but,
I don't see the fights from either of these guys in the past that lead me to believe that this will be like Hagler vs. Hearns. I haven't seen Golovkin angry the way MMH was, he has a different demeanor, and I just think his way is such that he would not allow anger to dictate the way he was going to fight (i.e. it wouldn't change his strategy). Back then, there was real belief that Hearns would have a shot against Hagler based on his demolition of Duran, and his past record against some very good fighters. He was back to being the Hitman, and carried himself like he was the Hitman again, he felt he could KO Hagler. This evidently rubbed Marvin the wrong way and it seemed to bring out the best in him. What we got was a collision between the two best fighters at that weight, who both had the potential to beat one another if they were at their best. And they both went for it really hard, it was great.
Realistically, I don't believe that it will take anywhere near 100% from Golovkin to beat Jacobs, and Golovkin has enough experience as a pro and amateur I am sure he is very aware of what he does and doesn't have to do to win. I don't believe Jacobs is durable enough to endure Golovkin's punches, especially if he is overly aggressive as he will be more open to a sharp counter.
So, that is why I really don't see this being the same kind of fight. GGG is the best at 160 lbs in my mind, by a long stretch, which makes it hard to envision a competitive fight for him at that weight.
On the other hand, I am a terrible prognosticator, terrible (I believe I am wrong > 75% of the time, no matter how 'sound' my logic, I am only good at picking the winners after the fight.....:p), so this could turn out to be a great, competitive match. :) Let's hope my trend continues and we get a good one.

Jacobs will come out hot but Golovkin's superior boxing skills will end up prevailing. I'm seeing TKO about Rd 8-9 GGG!!

Tony Zale vs Rocky Graziano was Hagler Hearns before Hagler Hearns.

I have a KO3 too... The smaller Middleweight putting the taller chinny Middleweight out like a light. But won't believe for a second it will be anything like Hagler vs Hearns, besides those 3 similarities.
