Yup. Jacobs didn't give a damn about Triple G reputation and brought out the best version of himself and made it an even fight . I agree with Andre Dirrell Doe, I felt Triple G edged it as well.
If Jacobs would have fought the 12th round like he fought the 11th, and won the 12th, a lot of people would be screaming robbery. However Triple G probably had his best round of the fight in the 12th, and it's hard to be upset with the decision as the 12th round played out. I think the swing rounds were rounds 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8. Those rounds were really toss up rounds. Lederman gave the 7th to Triple G, but I thought Jacobs may have won that round. 1 and 2 there wasn't much action, but it appeared that Jacobs landed the cleaner punches and was just ouboxing him. However all 3 judges gave Triple G the first round, and 2 of the 3 judges gave Triple G the 2nd and the 3rd rounds. Had DJ got those early rounds, he probably would have won. All 3 judges gave Triple G rounds 8 and 9, which seemed to be rounds that Jacobs may have appeared to win, especially the 8th, which IIRC Lederman scored for Jacobs.
I watched after the fight and it was GGG who was declared the winner. Agreed...this is what good matchups produce! Two excellent fighters...well conditioned and confident. Fans are the real winners here !
I'm actually surprised by the amount of people that think Jacobs won. It was a good, close fight, but it was clear as day that G won. I mean, he was the aggressor throughout, and it was effective aggression. The expectations that some people have for GGG are unrealistic. You can't KO every fighter you face at the top level. I tip my hat to Jacobs for making it a good fight and to G for turning up the heat when he had to and getting the win.
GG won by 1 point. Anyone who has GG winning by 3 or more was biased. It came down to the last round. GG clearly won that round. Jacobs gassed in the end.
