Don't get it twisted. He had blood in his eye for the entire fight and he still was beating Sri's ass. It was a good, close fight where Roman gave away some rounds in the 2nd half but there's no way Sri won this fight going away. In order to beat the champion, you have to beat him. Roman landed over 150 more punches in the fight, he landed the cleaner blows and better combinations, and he visibly had Sri hurt on a couple of different occasions. His biggest issue is not so much the weight but the fact that he has been wearing Everlast gloves against these bigger opponents and they simply do not do damage to your opponent's face.

If Roman were to fight Inoue, as an example, that fight would take place in Japan and Roman would wear Winning gloves and Roman would mess Inoue's face up just like he messed Yaegashi's face up. I think it was a poor scoring performance from the judges who simply did not give Roman's cleaner punching as much credence as they gave Sri's aggression.

I think they should do the card over again in six months and have rematches for both fights at MSG. Makes sense to me.

But, make no mistake, Roman is still the best fighter in the world.

Apparently Roman was a 10-1 favorite for this fight, but I honestly didn't see any of the betting lines myself.

He outlanded the Thai 441-236. Hard to see how they saw this for the Thai.

One of the biggest media creations of the last 20 years. I never believed the hype around this guy.
Very good fighter but nowhere near the level of Barrera prime Eric Morrales or any former ATG.

Kellerman is a fool for telling Rungvasi he had just beaten an all time great.

The problem I see with fighters as good as Gonzalez and GGG is that if the opponent looks good and stays in there with these two super fighters, even though the opponent loses the fight, many viewers want to reward the ability of the opponent for staying in there, going the distance. In my opinion, both GGG and Gonzalez clearly won their fights but they were hit and they did not stop their opponent, so some want to actually give the decision to their opponents. Faulty logic and a shame. I feel badly that Chocolatito did not get the decision because he clearly landed the more telling blows. The Thai has a good chin and has power but he did not win this fight.

Hype job? You obviously know little about boxing. The Thai badly headbutts Gonzalez to the point that he is bleeding from multiples spots on his head and yet still puts a beating on this guy and you want to call him hype. Go watch your MMA.

Undoubtedly, big money changed hands on this decision.

Roman is a beast, Roman is an ATG at Flyweight and below and deserves all the praise he gets, I picked the very underrated and unheralded monster Sor Rungvisai for the upset last night though, because Roman is too tiny to deal with guys who are as big and powerful as him and Cuadras, he takes way too much facial damage and abuse in general, either he needs to go back down to Flyweight if that's humanly possible or think about hanging it up. Some guys have the frame to move up several weight classes like Pacman, some don't, like Roman.

chocalito is a great fighter and put on a great show. but it was obvious all night he was too small and got handled physically all night by a bigger stronger fighter. Like broner same advice move back down to a weight class you dominate.

Gonalez is not an ATG. End of. And he never deserved to be p4p #1 either.

How many pound 4 pounders did he beat? The guys he beat were not even top 50 p4p outside Viloria.

True ATGs have no problems dominating the best guys through those small weights classes. Those weight classes are there to be climbed and most fighters do.
This guy had a veil of godliness around him and and any bad word ever said about him meant you didn't know chit about the sport of boxing.
5 years from now he won't be seen as any greater then Donaire who also had the same hype and looked great beating average guys bellow his size.
People simply co-tailed off this guys name to convince themselves they were a purist know it all. A very good fighter yes , but totally unwarranted of the hype and ATG status.
