Really bad night for Golovkin. And huge Props to Jacobs.

I had Golovkin winning 8 rounds to 4, Jacobs ran most of the night. SOB Ward is angry with his judges. Jacobs cheated on the weight, broke the IBF rules. Jacobs was hurt 3 times. Golovkin was never hurt. Void could not even knock out the woman he beat up! Golovkin proved he could box, he used to box more before he came to America..............he can punch and he can box.. Jacobs' eyes were swollen, Golovkin was untouched!

 

Yes, of course that's completely rubbish. I think GGG meant that he could not destroy Jacobs because Jacobs was too good (i.e. calls him favourite fighter b/c he's good). The quote is: "Daniel is my favorite fighter. I can't destroy him. He is a very clean, very good fighter."

The latter IMHO, or just a very bad night at the office ... It's hard to tell, similar to Klitschko-Fury, whether it's a longterm decline, or just a very bad outing.

 

in all the years ive followed boxing, ive seen a lot of atgs struggle with guys they should have run over. there are many reasons things line up like they do, and it happens.
i wouldnt worry about ggg just yet. i saw the same speed and power, just not the focus and intensity that made him so hard to deal with. he did way too much cruising. i dont know if he thought he was way ahead, which is possible, or jacobs hurt him enough to quell his aggression. either way, other atgs have bounced back from lackluster performances and i expect ggg to do the same.

 

GGG lowered revs after the 6th round and started to fight in academic way. In his interview he told that he started to hunt for Jacobs head.

Frankly don't see any issues with that fight, good win, not the full domination, but still a good win against a good opponent.
GGG wasn't using his full arsenal and overall I don't see anything that exposed GGG. He did enough to win and nothing extra.

 

Just rewatched the fight and GGG was in control of the fight, it wasn't close and GGG had a clean win. Compubox stats are correct and GGG landed more than Jacobs.

First impression before the fight that it might have been close, but afterewatching it is pretty clear that the fight wasn't close, don't know why Jacobs decided that he won by two points...

 

Hes struggling imo to pull the trigger as well as Jacobs being good fight night....Ggg is gonna rake up a few loses very soon, like next fight if its canelo...As barry mcguigan would put it, " he looks a tired fighter now"

 

I have a lot of respect for Jacobs, didn't expect him to give GGG a torrid time honestly. Rematch should happen soon.

Hopefully he beats Saunders to get that final WBO belt. I'd love to see him break Bhop record!

Jacobs had several advantages. Which I'm not complaining about and there is nothing wrong with having them. It actually emphasis how good GGG is even when he is having a hard time leaving first gear. (Which was noticeable, thanks to Jacobs being damn good opposition). Here are the aforementioned advantages.
1.Height
2.Reach
3.Size/Weight
4.Youth
5.Speed
6. Athleticism
Jacobs fought a good fight, I believe he stuck to his teams plan and listened intently to Rosier between rounds. I honestly think that he nullified GGG at certain times throughout the fight. Having said that GGG beat a mother ****ing monster last night. Come the **** on guys. Jacobs is a damn good boxer and had such huge physical advantages and OLD MAN GGG still convincingly won. That was a tall order for GGG last night. If Jacobs was the same size as Golovkin last night he wouldn't have gone twelve. I'm proud GGG. That was big ass powerful athletic dude that could box and crack. I'm down for a rematch. It was too competitive for there not to be one.
