Let me explain you something about PPV numbers

    Floyd, Manny and Canelo are big PPV stars in the US.

    Floyd has a whole country behind him. 320 Million people who would potentially buy his events because they want to see their fellow countryman win. Canelo has 35 Million Mexican Americans supporting him. Manny has around 3 Million Phillippinos.

    These are emerging nations, whose people will follow the men who represent their country in boxing and they buy the PPV events. Canelo vs. Cotto was such a success, because Cotto has 5 Million of his fellow country men living in the US.

    GGG, Kovalev or Ward will NEVER be PPV stars. There are only 23000 Kazakh Americans, 400000 Russian Americans. They don't have a big audience in the US. Ward is just plain boring and doesn't have the charisma of Floyd.

    Everything GGG, Kovalev or Ward sold, were bought by hardcore boxing fans. Same as Bernard Hopkins, who couldn't sell much. But he sold, because hardcore fans wanted to watch him but average John Smith from Iowa would never pay if he has no reason to.

    Main reasons for huge PPV numbers:

    - being a hardcore boxing fan
    - being from the same nation as the boxer and from a rather not so wealthy country, where patriotism is stronger because some represents their country
    - buying the fight as a bar owner with the hope that many peopel visit this evening

    Now compare the PPV numbers today with PPV numbers in the 90's or to the times when DLH, Manny and Floyd were in their prime. They all made millions of buys.
    10 Million Polish Americans made it possible that Golota sold twice as much as GGG or Ward.

    Small PPV numbers mean, you see the hardcore fans, people who love that sport. No casuals. Big numbers mean you have a whole nation behind you. Something that in boxing doesn't exist anymore.

    Americans watch MMA, all the casuals are there. Alvarez vs. McGregor made 4,5 Million buys. Something that boxing has never done before and never will anymore, because there are no entertaining or good American boxers with a personality that peopel either love or hate.

    the sad part is...i agree...casuals dont really matter...they only matter in a floyd/pac situation...they push a fight from a 2-3 million sale to over 4.....but the people that bought jacobs/ggg and ward/kova were the ones who were always buying...i agree

    the thing is...when ward was ducked by golovkin you all swore golovkin was some star

    when you heard "15 mil" you all swore golovkin was some star...hes "selling out arenas...he got a nike deal...he in apple commercials.....hes an HBO star"

    you cant go back on it now when it doesnt fit

    Men lie, women lie numbers don't. According to Lance99 130k-150k means you deserve more than 15 million even if your last fight gave you just over 2 million. /shrug also didn't GGG say,Ward wasn't a draw ?!? He drew more viewers than GGG. Not fighting Ward when people wanted matters and tarnished him a bit.

    PPV is a con and expensive. Should be reserved for true super fights.

    Ward had 4 years time to fight GGG. He decided to rather commentate Golovkin's fights and fight the likes of Edwin Rodriguez. Then he alls hm out when his last fight was at 172, years after he was called out.
    At the end, both are not a draw in the US and the fight wouldn't have sold more than they already did in their last PPV.

    one guy is sidelined and cant fight so the other guy calls him out? awesome! how about when ward was off the shelf and ready to fight again and both guys were active? why was golovkin willing to fight ward, supposedly, a few years earlier but then changed his mind when ward reached out to him?

    all the fantasies you guys have conocted about golovkin NOT ducking ward are bunk and proven so everytime...everything from this lame one to "ward couldnt make 168 anymore anyway"

    I explained it many times. GGG fights at 160, Ward was fighting at 172 and heading to 175. You don't move up two weight divisions for a guy that sells as much as you do, after calling him out for 4 years, when you can fight Canelo. It was Ward's decision to move up or to fight Edwin Rodriguez.

    Wards fight against smith was 175...but he came in light..why? in case golovkin wanted to fight and he had to go back to 168 you idiot...he even let smith weigh in at 176...lol......

    hows that canelo fight coming along? is it signed? who did golovkin fight last year that enhanced his legacy? ...apparently ward does sell as much as golovkin...apparently you dont recognize the recent golovkin numbers eh? lol

    EXACTLY HOW MANY FIGHTS DID WARD HAVE ABOVE 168 WHEN HE REACHED OUT TO GOLOVKIN?

    You're not really making sense, first you say the low ppv numbers are due to GGG not having 320 million behind him, because he's not american - even though ward is as american as it gets?
    Then you said Alvarez vs. McGregor did 4.5M PPV buys, when it only did 1.3M?

    I don't put the blame on G for the low buys, GGG does what he's gotta do every time. I blame HBO for the low PPV numbers. Clearly the head of sports there has no clue how to run a department. Putting silly fights on the network and having ****-poor production and marketing.

    They put the 24/7 episode on the same time as Thurman-Garcia... Of course people are gonna choose to watch the live fight on prime time CBS than rather watching a 24/7 pre-made episode..

    The highlights they put on YouTube is the same old format done and dusted within 5 minutes of throwing clips around the place.

    I'm tellling you if Golovkin was with Showtime he would be a much bigger star by now...

    Yes, but I added that Ward isn't even close to Floyd, charisma wise and also skillwise. He just never made it and people do not care about him. He's like the Dirrell brothers. They just will never be stars. Floyd did everything right in terms of marketing and had also the benefit of many other great fighters in his division.
    Furthermore, he is one of the few, who turned pro back then in the "glory times".

    Btw, I believe Wilder could be a PPV star, but somehow he doesn't get any casual fans despite the friend friendly style and charisma. So if he can not do it, don't expect Ward to do it.

    I read those numbers on Wikipedia.

    Golovkin is just not a crossover star. Has VERY LITTLE to do with his nationality. All I hear is excuses.

    If you don't like it petition for him to fight in Kazakh or stfu because crying about it here is pointless.

    Btw, my in-laws bought the Lemieux fight since they're American Golovkin fans... they didn't even know Golovkin was fighting this past weekend.
