Everybody 154-168 lost their nuts, but now that GGG is 35 they've found them

This guy was a tremendously feared and avoided fighter. So much so that one guy even surrendered his belt and handed it over to Golovkin just to avoid defending his belt. Now that Golovkin is 35 years old, slipping and looking past his prime everybody is coming out of the woodworks and feeling like big man now.

When Rosado's face was turned into a tomato nobody wanted it. When everybody saw the look on Matthew Macklin's face when GGG hit him that body shot the whole division shat itself. When Curtis Stevens eyeballs jumped out of his skull and Golovkin threw over 100 power shots in the round before the stoppage nobody wanted it. When he put a 1 hitter quitter on Geale while in the process of taking a flush right nobody wanted it. When he stopped arguably the toughest man p4p in the sport in Martin Murray nobody wanted it. When he put on a boxing clinic against Lemiuex nobody wanted it.

But in his last 3 fights he's looked old. Wade was landing on him. Brook landed flush and hammered him. And Daniel Jacobs who was dropped by Sergio Mora went the distance with him.

All of a sudden Eubank Jr., Saunders, Lee, etc. feel big man.

This is exactly what the plan was. To avoid him until he was over 35 and then take advantage of an aging fighter who isn't as ferocious as in years past.

    But who's fault is it?
It's not their fault he's 35 years old and waited all this time.
Let me post what I posted on another thread.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know a lot of people will not like my comment but since GGG has been elevated to Hagler, SRL, Duran, Monzon and Hearns status, I'll play devils advocate.

On Saturday morning GGG weighted in at 169 lb, so there goes the theory he's not able to move up. People saying, he's a small MW and he should stay there.

In recent boxing history, FMJ went to JMW and never went over 154 lb and even when he fought at WW he only hydrated 2-5 LB.

That was Saturday morning, I bet once GGG stepped in the ring he had gained at least 3 - 5 LB more. He probably was around 170 - 174 LB.

160 pounds is not a particularly strong division. But the post super 6 SMW division is arguably the weakest in the sport. So it's not like 168 pounds had greener grass.

You're right he does rehydrate 10 pounds or so, but then again so are the natural SMW's. Except they're rehydrating to around 180 instead of around 170. So he would be giving up size maybe not a ridiculous amount, but he won't be as big at 168 as he is at 160.

What Golovkin should do is beat Saunders in 2017 and become undisputed. Then just sit and babysit all those belts while telling the rest of the division to "Suck on it". That's what I would do if they all avoided/vacated when I was at my best, but want to fight when I'm an older fighter.

But the title on your thread said and I quote you:
"Everybody 154-168 lost their nuts, but now that GGG is 35 they've found them"

Besides Ward at 168, why didn't GGG go down to 154?

GGG was never that good. Very good fighter but that's it. The middleweight division was just weak. Jacobs would probably always give him trouble. Imagine what a Hopkins would have done to him and Ward would have schooled him. Kovalev is better than him, by far.

There's probably some truth to people ducking him though. Canelo for sure ducked him. He got a MW belt and never wanted to fight. At least GGG wasn't campaigning at 168 while avoiding Ward. I don't think GGG avoided Ward because he wanted to stay at middle, and that's fine.

He wanted to go to 154 to fight Mayweather. Lara was also down there at 154, but Lara had no intentions of ever fighting Golovkin due to promotional conflicts that would have been there.
