Ward wanting a rematch with Froch was a pointless money grab fight. Ward would outpoint Froch fairly wide every fight, every time. It had nothing to do with boxing and everything to do with cash.

No one in their right mind would give Ward a 50-50 split based on what he had been doing at the time....which was nothing, and trying to get out of his contract with goosen.

Did Kov get a career high payday? And you think he got it because of Ward? No, he got it because of the matchup that HBO liked. And probably hoped they could use to build another network staple. This isn't like with Oscar, Floyd or Pac, where when you fight them, you are getting your highest purse.

I swear....some of you guys toss out "Do for his legacy..." way too much. Not every good fight is a "legacy" fight. Hell, I see some call Ward/Kov some legacy fight. Really....WTF does that mean? It was just a good, top notch fight, and some posters act like it's some amazing achievement.

ward getting 50 wouldnt have been based off what he has done "at the time"...if floyd comes back are you going to pay him based off what hes done at the time(now in no way am i trying to compare floyd and ward as far as popularity)? but wards name brought something to a ggg fight....from what he had done in the super 6........did ward beating paul smith, barrera and brand suddenly make him worth something? not really...but you add kovalev next to wards name and suddenly you have something...the same way you add gggs names to ward and you have something....just because ward wasnt active doesnt mean his name doesnt ring bells or have major respect in the fight game.....especially if gggs name alone is supposed to hold weight then adding wards only adds more weight to a showdown
