it always was pirated. i never went to a party in the nineties where anyone actually paid for the event.
That's undeniably pretty good numbers tbh. Anything over 150k I would've considered a success. But yes, thankfully PPV is dying. Why on earth would any of you guys want the PPV model to work?
Technological advances make it even easier. There will soon be a day when 500k PPV buys will considered huge.
The only people boxing cares less about than the fans are the fighters. I can't think of a sport that gives its fans the middle finger so routinely, although the NFL has been giving it the old college try these last few years.
Hopefully PBC works so that it's on free tv. Imagine the average for a big fight is 10 million viewers
The Green - Mundine PPV farce was publicly pirated on Facebook in Australia with the guy called mid broadcast with cease and desist threats then his PPV was cut off mid fight. Front page news, lots of talk about Foxtel prosecuting him and all came to nothing.
Both GGG and Jacobs guaranteed purse were well within reach of the ppv revenue. This indicates that both camp are realistic on the potential number. 170k obviously is not a great number but I think for this fight it will be considered a success. GGG last ppv number was around 150k with Leumiux. It is an increase from previous ppv which means his drawing power is on an upward trajectory eventhough not by much. 15m is a great offer. I always maintain that one, ggg's camp should not passed. I don't see why Golden Boy should change the offer, what do they expect really?? Suddenly GGG ppv number to reach 500k??? If they unsure now about the potential sell of GGG canelo, yes, a percentage might be a better way to go. I do feel GGG deserves at least 25-30% cut. Let's hope with the conclusion of Canelo Chavez, we are closer to the fight.
I always feel they're fudged, same with Canelo v Smith, that said if you were gonna fudge em why not say a big no?
Average numbers. Problem is the public isn't fooled easy these days. Canelo drew 250K v Smith - 3 years ago it would have been double that. The public no the fight they alwant and won't buy others.
