Ward used to be part of Roy's entourage. Roy says Kovalev will be more confident in rematch.

"Ward came back from a knockdown and neutralized the man late in the fight, but Kovalev had a couple of good rounds late in the fight too. It's kind of hard to give it to either fighter. I would just call it a draw and have them come back and do it again,"
"[Kovalev] has a chance to win it [in the rematch], because he did so well in the first fight. His confidence is going to be at an all-time high. I think the second fight is just as good as the first fight, and it's still a 50-50 you pick 'em. Kovalev left thinking he won the fight, so morally he didn't lose. And we can say that Ward did neutralize him late in the fight and Ward started having his way, but he still had to wait until he wore Kovalev down to neutralize him.
"He'll have to go out there and wait until he wears him down, without getting knocked out, and then he'll run away with it. He's not going to run away with it from round one, because he didn't run away with it from round one this time. He took over in the later part of the fight, because of the work he did in the early part of the fight - and not because he outsmarted Kovalev."
"Kovalev was a problem the whole fight until the final bell rang. Now Kovalev is going to come out the same way like the last time, dangerous. And Ward will have to go through that whole process again, and maybe he walks away with it but who knows."

Of course Kovalev will be more confident in the rematch . He already knows he can beat Dre.
He knows he can hurt Dre with just a jab alone . He already knows he can put Dre down if he catches him.
I've said it before Ward is the one that needs to redeem himself here not Kovalev. All the pressure will be on him.

Both guys will be confident. Ward should feel good that he made adjustments and got better as the fight went on. Kovalev knows he can hurt Ward and will be fuelled by the feeling that he was robbed in the first fight.

The fact that Ward is talking about retirement more and more makes me more confident that Kovalev will pull it off should a rematch happen.

    Roy Jones knows baaaxing.
Wards knows he lost but change his tune after receiving the decision.
Kovalev knows he didn't lose and will bring the same confidence with more urgency.
He can not wait to even the score while Ward was talking about hanging it up.
This might not matter at all when the bell ring, but I'll go with the fighter with stronger mental make up coming in.
    War Kovalev !!!!!!

Good comment by Roy. Notice he says draw or too close to call? Nice to hear respectable comments like this rather than the drivel you hear from fans.

Agree with this but immediately after the first fight Roy said Kovalev won.

I remember. He makes some good points with the comment in its entirety and the constant debate and need for closure is what makes this rematch so intriguing. We need this.

I like both Ward and Kovalev but I am honestly a slightly bigger fan of Ward despite his diva behavior. I felt Ward BARELY won. That said, he needs to take this rematch and silence his critics. I can't argue with anyone who felt Kovalev won; that's why Ward needs to solidify it.

I prefer Kovalev personally but rate Ward as having the best mental game in boxing and have huge respect for him and can understand his power trip (he probably feels under-appreciated).

Can't believe you had Ward winning though, that along with having Jacobs winning against Golovkin has me suspecting the worst of you, I hope your not one of those types because I usually enjoy your posts and find you impartial usually.

Good comments by Roy but I'm not sure I agree that Kovalev will be more confident. I think both guys will have similar levels of confidence. Both guys had their successes in the first fight. Both guys will believe they deserved to win the first fight. Both guys will believe they know what to do in the rematch and both guys will believe they can win the rematch.

What you mofos are sold on Roys opinion? It's his opinion lmao. That's it. Ward is a great champion and prideful champion. He will have some say in the matter.

I wish Roy was this confident in the Tarver rematch lol. Sike lol. We all know Roy was damaged after coming back down to 175 at age 35. He was washed.

how the **** do you win rounds by "neutralizing"? This sport is a joke today. They got judges scoring the fight for guys that are getting walked down and beat the **** up.

Great quote from Roy I'm so happy he won his last fight and I'm happy he is still talking very very well. Can't say the same for Toney I think which is a tragedy
