The sport doesn't wait for anyone. He needs to win a meaningful fight before even being considered close to #1 again. Facing and beating Thurman would be enough to regain #1.

He hasn't even deserved to be considered since around 2007 when he stopped Hatton. Since then he's had no notable wins against young, hungry natural Welterweights. Pac was p4p #1 until around 2010 when Gonzalez took over which lasted until around 2014 which is when Kovalev took over. Right now it's Ward or Kovalev as p4p.

Is calling Floyd Mayweather "Floyd Joy Sinclair Mayweather" Suppose to be funny or just shows how sad your life is? Just call the man by the name he goes back. God people like you are annoying.

He hasn't actually come out of retirement, though.

    So no.

Andre Ward is #1 P4P, and Ward would kick Floyd's ass in the ring.

Um your comment doesn't make any sense. Why would he need to fight jutst welterweights? He beat Canello Alvrarez who is bigger than Welterweight, He beat Cotto, He beat the same Marquez who put Manny Pac to bed, He beat Maidana twice. Even though I think he lost their first fight.

The people who hate on Mayweather crack me up. They will praise people like Pac, GGG, and others for hand picking their opponents but talk down because Mayweather did it.

On that same note I don't give anybody a pass. I never though Mayweather was that good to begin with. His opponents were slow plodding Hispanic/Latino fighters who he knew he could make money off fighter. 50 Million plus Mexicans in this country and white people and Mexicans will always root against the black guy. That is how Mayweather made his living.

Various top level black fighters like Vernon Forrest or Winky Wright would of beat him.

So since Mayweather is back he doesn't deserve to be P4P anything until he fights a real fighter and beat him.

Because he was a Welterweight. That's why beating actual young, hungry, career Welterweights matters in p4p. Floyd hasn't been p4p since Hatton.
