Marvin Hagler was the undisputed middlweight champion for 6 years, 7 months and 10 days, Golovkin surpassed it yesterday

Except that Golovkin was never technically the "undisputed champion". He has no lineal claim, and more importantly, he hasn't collected all the major alphabet belts. He's merely a unified champion.

We wish him luck against Saunders.

True, but Golovkin has a longer reign in terms of holding a belt

I'm always leery of comparing GGG to Hagler  Marvin beat some big, big names during his reign. If you're going by strict chronology, then I guess you may be right.

Golovkin hasn't den WBO belt but has all the belt's Hagler had in the past. And imo he became the lineal champ when Canelo chicked out and vacated the WBC belt.

That right Hagler beat bigger names and I see nearly no chance for Golovkin to surpass this even when he KO's Canelo, Ramirez, DeGale, Ward and Kovalev

There's absolutely no chance he does what you're suggesting above. He'd do well to get two of the names on your list on his resume at this point. He's a) not a young man - time is not on his side and b) two of those guys are campaigning two weights above him with another potentially making the move to 175 in the not too distant future.

If he took out those 4 then I wouldn't be shy of comparing him to Hagler ;)

I know and I agree on this but if he somehow does this people maybe will compare him with Hagler in 10 years

I can live with him not having the WBO belt. Fare play, he wants it though

True, GGG has had a good reign and beaten several worthy contenders but there haven't been legends at the weight to give the career defining fights that Hagler had.

I think Ward and Kov would be to big for Hagler like they are GGG.

IMO there is no"lineal" champ, which is a fantasy anyway. Martinez did have that distinction, however, never had another middleweight bout after beating Murray (the Cotto fight does not count since that was not fought at the middleweight limit). But if GGG beats Saunders then IMO he becomes lineal champ. Which is a worthless technicality anyway since he is already the clear top dog at the weight and recognised by the three main governing bodies.
