It's really a great fight. Both were going hard and fast as possible. Beautiful stuff from both guys.
My favorite breakdown yet! Agustus really brought out the best in Floyd. No doubt it was his hardest fight. I loved the way PBF got away from the shell and adjusted with the high guard. Brilliant stuff from both men. And you're right, it's a shame most people forgot about what a fighter Agustus was and how great he was for the sport.
I recently read up on 'The Drunken Master' - the article mentioned Floyd named him his toughest opponent. The guy hasn't had it easy, suppose lots of ex boxers stories turn sad post career. I got the impression the guy loved to entertain, entertaining those who paid to see him was more important than getting the win.
It was definitely a fun fight to watch. Didn't see it live but still one of my favorite PBF fights. He really messed his hand up in this fight, Burton was tough as hell.
That's the nature of the shell though. A good consistent left hook makes it so hard to get punches off from there. It's why Archie Moore would switch between defenses so frequently.
