Maybe it's a wide opinion by knowledgeable boxing fans because Duran is levels above anybody Floyd Has ever faced. And we're talking prime Duran here. Prime Duran has arguably the most complete skillset of any fighter we have extensive footage of. Floyd's lack of power, low output and the fact he stays on the ropes when faced with mobile pressure fighters means there's an extremely good chance he would get a serious beating. Duran was so clever at opening up opponents using his GOAT array of faints. Floyd would not be able to comprehend what was in front of him. His ability to adjust would be punched out of him. Duran would force his will on Floyd and he would quickly realise he's in a dark dark place. Literal hell. And to top it off Duran was extremely hard to hit clean due to his slick defence. Nightmare fight for Floyd stylistically.

 

There is a good argument to be made the Duran is the best technician to ever fight. Like the entire history of boxing. So if anything Floyd is the huge underdog here.

 

Duran is not Levels above Manny Pacquiao , we are talking about an 8 Division Champion , Pacquiao is similar to
Duran , they are on the same Level

 

Duran is a much more technically skilled fighter than Pacquiao. And Pac hadn't had a KO in 6 years when he fought Floyd.

 

You can win fights on Points , you dont need a KO , never heard of it ?
But anyway this discussion is pointless , we will never know who would have won
that fight but im pretty sure Duran would not have massacred or murdered Mayweather.

 

I agree as Brit I came late to Mayweather around Oscar and Mosely time and I always enjoyed watching him,his resume is amazing,sure with anyone you could find something about the opposition and timing but let it be said he really could back up the talk.

 

Both are great fighters in their time. I don't like it when Mayweather diss GGG and Ali, similarly I don't like it when Duran takes a dig at floyd.
In terms of greatness Duran outrank floyd based on his dominance at lightweight and longevity.
As for head to head, I would favour Duran at welter and below, above welter it's depend what type of Duran will show up. Floyd is the more consistent fighter, maybe because it's a different era where a loss can have big impact.

It just shows your lack of knowledge by comparing Pac to Duran. Duran is a certified top 10 ATG and arguably the greatest lightweight ever. Pac is not as great as Duran and never will be. In terms of styles they don't fight alike at all. Duran was a defensive minded in-side fighter and a boxer puncher who could also box on the outside. Duran was a multi-dimensional fighter with tremendous offensive and defensive skills that were blended together seamlessly. Pac does not possess those type of skills. Duran was also a far superior ring general.

 

Duran is simply a cut above Mayweather, The lightweight Duran dominates Floyd, the Duran that beat Leonard at welterweight dominates Floyd at 147. The only question is can Floyd last the distance
