Stevenson? .....Who?! The guy who's fought four low level voluntaries in a row, and paid off Alvarez so he could secure a fifth in a row....a fight which looks like it won't even happen now. The guy who was stripped of his ring trinket because he hasn't fought anyone since 2014. Is that the Stevenson we're talking about? That guy won't fight anyone, let alone beterbiev. He's cashing out as much as is possible while taking as little risk as is possible.

 

Berby would separate Ward from what little senses he has. Berbs KO's Ward in 8. Berbizle has too much pop from Andre.

The Monaghan fight isn't happening as I hinted at. If Stevenson wanted to make money, he would have taken some meaningful fights over the last few years instead of fighting mismatched voluntaries in matchups nobody cared about. And, chasing yet another mismatched voluntary while basically 40, while making Alvarez sit waiting even longer, and basically anyone else deserving or interesting within the weightclass. Stevenson is a shining example of holding a belt hostage while taking the low risk, medium reward path to retirement. He's almost irrelevant at this point, and has shown zero indication that he will fight a unification, let alone anyone in the top ten. It's a nice thing to hope for, but it doesn't seem likely given the track record. Maybe Yvon Michel actually puts something together....but he also isn't exactly a big time player and has a habit of blowing it when it counts. I'll believe it when I see it. and won't hold my breath.
