Recently watched the Tyson/Douglas again. Apart from the shocking upset outcome, there was also the controversy of the 'long count' and the judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage where IIRC one judge had Douglas ahead, one had Tyson ahead and even on the 3rd judges card, even though Buster seem to be well ahead on most people's scorecard. With all that happening, a rematch seemed inevitable yet it never happened joining a list of other big fights where many wanted to see a second fight yet frustratingly for fans never did happened.

What other fights would people here include that they would have loved to see a rematch but were left disappointed when it never happened for one reason or another. I would have included

    Hagler/Hearns II
    Lewis/V.Klitschko II
    Toney/Nunn II
    Curry/Honeyghan II

Barry mcguigan v Steve cruz spring s to mind. Whenever there was going to be a rematch for definite I'm not sure but always felt there should have been. Home advantage or at least some where neutral I believe bazza would have regained the belt.

Tyson vs Holyfield III, Lewis vs McCall III, Mayweather vs Judah II and Hopkins vs Trinidad II weren't necessary.

    Barrera vs Hamed II?
There was any kind of doubt in who would win a second fight?

I was going to point out the same thing. Having said that, Hamed apparently never trained properly for MAB so perhaps if he got his head right and undertook a full, proper training camp, a rematch may have at least been more competitive.

I wouldn't call it a rematch that seemed inevitable exactly but I wish Roy had given Toney a chance to avenge his first loss. I accept Roy was all wrong for James but maybe post Tarver since RJJ suddenly had the urge to fight anybody & everybody, although I suppose that would mean Roy going back up to heavyweight.

Barrera was the better fighter, that's it for me.
Hamed sure was unfocused, there's a documentary about it, but Barrera was all wrong for Hamed and his mental toughness will prevail around 9/10 times.
Regarding Toney vs Jones, imo Toney did a lot better than people think, he was outclassed quite easily, but he made Jones miss a lot and a focused and in shape Toney had a better chance of getting a ko, but at the end, Roy and movers overall, were the stylistically nightmare of Toney.

No, but at the time it was one of the biggest fights out there & I would have liked to have seen a better prepared Hamed get his ass kicked again.
