Chocolatito is still the best, and HBO's hit job on him can't change that.

Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez was the consensus n.1 P4P boxer on Earth, until HBO decided to rob him. They referee and judges are extremely suspect in the Rungvisai fight, and the robbery cleary benefits HBO, who can now promote the Ward-Kovalev rematch as the "fight between the top two P4P greatest fighters in the world".

We all know that's a load of BS. Choc was sacrificed because the lower weight classes never get watched by casual fans, and so a small guy can never become a pay-per-view star. The fight itself was a circus attraction: Rungvisai intentionally headbutted Choc several times, and the ref just let him do that. The judges also failed to penalize Rungvisai. I scored the fight for Choc, as did most boxing experts, but the judges gave it to Rungvisai.

Problem is win or not you shouldn't be struggling with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai if you are p4p #1. No one knows who he is let alone anyone he's ever fought other than Cuadras who he lost to. Arguably so did Chocalito too.. I mean i am a fan but to be fair his last two fights don't exactly bode well for his status as p4p seeing as no one knows who his last two opponents were up until he fought them & arguably lost. They hardly have deep resumes do they? I think his status as p4p #1 has gone.. Lomachenko is nipping at the heels of that particular status fairly soon. Inoue, Crawford, GGG, Ward, Kovalev.. Many others in fact. Just being realistic..

Floyd struggled with several B-level fighters when he was P4P n.1, for example Marcos Maidana, who many believe beat Floyd in their first fight. There's no shame in struggling with a good fighter, even if he's B-level. It has happened to all the ATGs.

If you don't know Choc's opponents, that's just because YDKSAB. He has consistently fought the best fighters at his weight.

I agree with you , it is no shame to struggle with a good fighter , but Floyd was 37 years old , when he fought
against Maidana , he only struggled against Castillo in his prime and he was not the p4p number 1 at the time.

Gonzalez was never the pound for pound number one. Guys like Lomachenko, Ward, Kovalev, Golovkin, Rigondeaux etc, beat down guys like Wangek, not have close fights with them and lose.

didn't Rigondeaux get dropped a couple of times by an unknown Japanese bum lol!
His glass chin is there for the taking and he's old and inactive. That Thai guy is far better than the Japanese guy.

No he hasn't.. Inoue, Ioka, Ruenrong etc

Carlos Cuadras is a good win & so is Sosa.

But he has not consistently fought the best fighters that is a fallacy. His resume is not hugely deep for someone with 47 fights. Floyds was by the Maidana fight & nor did Floyd lose to sisters got a sore ring. I'll have to re-watch to see who won.. I remember him getting busted up badly & dropped though but thinking he may have edged it. That's not Floyd v Maidana.. Floyd was far more proven too by that point. It's not just that either.. It's two back to back performances that he's looked less than convincing in. Sorry. Lomachenko or Crawford losing to someone like Rungvisai & having two questionable performances back to back now they would be ridiculed hugely wouldn't they??

Once, he then destroyed the guys face, and stopped him, something Gonzalez didn't do.

Stop saying many, not even 10% believe Maidana won that 1st fight.

    Floyd won that handily, 8-4.

Any judges would be able to tell you that, and of course anyone with eyes that can see and with more than half a brain.

Gonzales was in his 4th weight class and can't hurt these guys as easily, and got cut by multiple headbutts. I think it was actually a gutsy and impressive performance. I thought he won and if you had him #1 to begin with I don't see him dropping since Ward and GGG didn't dominate their best most recent opponents either.

    No he isn't

Any fight at SFLW against a meaningful opponent is 50/50 or worse for him now.

Any fight at FLW will involve draining him and could end his career.

He is a great fighter and has the best skillset of any fighter 118 and below in history, but that history is at an end now.

He's still one of the best in the world at his weight but is he one of the best at any weight? When you have guys like Loma, Ward, Kovalev, Golovkin and Crawford dominating their foes?

Are you serious? Ward has never dominated a good fighter. He had close fights with Bika, Froch, and he only beat Kessler thanks to his intentional headbutting.
