https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.da...d-Haye-shows-protective-boot-gym-session.html Scroll down for video... Personally think he's a nutter but fair play, doesn't want to waste anytime!
If only he had been as dedicated post Wlad instead of wanting to be part of the gobshyte scene that is Towie and the rest of the British "celebs".
Haye needs to train hard, he has been way too inactive, lost a lot.....................he should either train extremely hard or retire for good...........
Still undecided if haye came into the ring injured or not. But watching that video and a few others. Looks like hes over emphasising the weights/power work. Thats all well and good but it looks to me like he like a lot of others nowadays are neglecting their actual boxing training for more of the weights etc. His timing was massively off against bellew. Could have been the injury. But looks like he,d be better off working on his sharpness first and foremost. No ones saying dont do weights etc. Just dont make it the number one thing. It should be subsidising your training. Maybe hes just putting up videos of the weights etc. Obviously hes limited in his training with the injury...but pains me to see boxing turning into a bodybuilding contest nowadays. Guys like mayweather. Pacman. Lomachenko. Ali. All great fighters...never relied on weight work. Even holyfield came into the ring stacked but was always still fast/sharp. Massive stamina etc. Even into his later years. Looked like his boxing training still came first. I m wondering how much these guys have got left in the tank for boxing training after a session on the weights. Maybe i m a dinosaur...all for the sports science playing a big part in the sport. But watching these videos...looks like its the main part of their training nowadays. Getting these big arms/legs etc all well and good but what happens when they slow down and your not able to get out the way of shots. Would be much better spending that time working on movement. Punching on the move in every direction. Creating angles. Head movement. Working on tactics. Getting fast and sharp. Then subsidising it with weights. A lot of the time i see the same stuff with the boxing training...its stagnating. Their finding new ways in terms of sport science but the boxing trainings stagnating. Its either standard padwork or heavybag. Or the usual standard stuff. Take my hat off to the ingles with their circles. Most of their fighters can fight on the move. Good head movement etc. Or even tyson the numbered system they used. Dont see anyone doing it anymore. Even a lot of people deride it but the mayweathers pad work that people mock is unbeilevable for reflex,s. Even lomachenko i m not sure how he trains but i bet there doing stuff that very few others are thinking about. Quick reflexes are a very difficult thing to fight against. I still put a lot of mayweathers success down to it. Instead with haye and a lot of others it looks like their boxings regressed cause they ve fell in love with the power/strength aspect of the game.
Great post I 100% agree All this massive emphasis on bodybuilding type training or crossfit bollox is no good for fighters. Look at calzaghe when he was fighting a tiny bit of definition. Training consisted of bodyweight resistance , pad work, running, sparring, hill/steps r and not much fancy sh1t . Weights and all that jive should be maybe 30 minutes a week the rest spent on conditioning, skills, tactics, feet , movement, sparring drills Bet it's a long time since Haye has done anything like that for any length of time
Great post mate. Calzaghe a great example. How many of the guys did he beat came in looking like adonis,s in comparison to him. Sure i seen enzo,s padwork once and although enzo is undermined at times...calzaghe was as sharp as you ll see. Seemed to emphasise the pads for sharpness/reflexes and stamina. Whereas haye seemed to try and see how hard he could hit a pad. The frustrating thing is haye has natural power. The powers already there they should have been concentrating more on everything else. Powers no good if you cant deliver it. The footwork was the biggest problem for me. The most neglected part of boxing training nowadays. I dont think many know how to train it. I m not saying i do but i m pretty sure like the ingles circles it wouldnt take a genius to get it right. He couldnt set nothing worthwhile up because his footwork under mcguigan is terrible. Could it have been the injury going in...maybe so but i think he was dragging the leg in his comeback fights as well. Think there trying to get him to edge in and slide out with pretty static movement. Makes him a predictable offensive fighter something hes rarely been guilty of under booth. His legs are too wide apart also. Hes always threw the haymaker at odd angles. But to throw it when his back legs that far back...no one at the level their wanting to be fighting at wont see it coming. He should have went to the ingles. Worked on his reflex,s. Footwork etc. He looked exactly like a guy that had bulked up with weights in their against bellew. No problem with sport science getting involved in the sport i am a believer but it should be around 20 percent maximum of the training schedule. The advantages it brings comes with drawbacks also. Joshuas an odd one...seems to be all about the same thing we,re talking about. But so far so good for him. Thinks its a case of the guys hes been fighting havent been able to match him because his workloads so great. Hes a specimen Maybe ped usage...who knows. Hes just too fit strong and big for what essentially are part time fighters in comparison with Martin. Breazeale. Molina etc. But problems we,re there against whyte of a bulked up fighter thats went down the sports science route too far. Them big arms of his come down its gonna end up a problem somewhere down the line. I also think if he does start getting hit his tank will empty quickly as well. Time will tell tho.
I don't view Bellew's win as legit so the jury is still out on Haye. I think he knows he can make a huge cheque from Femi if he gets past WK and Haye can get back on track.
Joshua does massively dedicate time to timing , drills , reflexes and so forth he even posts those vids sometimes. Think because he's so stacked everyone assumes he's smashing weights all the time The boring less dynamic part of boxing training is by far the most effective I would imagine that Haye is so arrogant to think that he left this type of training behind in the ams and it doesn't need attention anymore For clev v kov kov was training in our am gym in a school. I didn't get to see him but our amateur coach did. And said all he did was basic pad work and ground work. He even went on the pads with the amateur coaches. One day he spent the majority of his session throwing a tennis ball from his straight right at the wall. Hundreds of times. You wouldn't catch Haye doing that I'm sure
