So I Have Been Working on My Boxing Collection

Nice list. I just started mine not that long ago. I only have recent fights from the year 2000 and up. I record all the big PPV fights, and most HBO/Showtime cards.

 

I have a pretty big collection myself. I have no clue how many fights I have but I would guess I have about 2000.

 

I have alot of classics and alot of recents. Most of the recent fights I have on VHS and the classics on DVD.

I have Mike Tyson's whole career on DVD. I have most of James Toney and Prince Naseem's fights.

 

They are horrible, I used to have tons laying around. But I switched to DVD's and have the fights on a writable CD spindle, a spindle holds 50, so you can have 1000 fights with 20 and they take up no room.:good

 

I've downloaded thousands of fights that are scattered around on to countless DVDs, that I'm not gonna even attempt to archive. But I do keep track of all of the cards I've personally recorded since purchasing a DVD recorder in late 2005, which is basically every HBO and Showtime telecast in their entirety along with select ESPN cards. I keep this archived because I sell them online ( ), though I have about 10 or so recent cards I'm yet to update my list with...

I have extensive collection of boxing events on VHS that was passed down to me. I also have a bunch of them on DVD, Full PPVS and some Grande Peleas DVDs as well.. I know of a website that offers big fights, events ect. If anyone is interested PM me, I'll let you know the website to go to.

I have an obscene amount of content.

I recorded everything for a very long time! I mean everything!

I have every episode of Tuesday Night Fights ever.

I used to order and record every PPV

Never missed an HBO, SHOWTIME, ABC, NBC, CBS, ESPN, Prime Sports etc etc card.

I'd record sportscenter daily as well as CNN or whatever and if anything boxing was on, interviews, weigh ins you name it I'd keep it. For big fights I'd have months worth of blurbs and quick interviews. I'd always check the Letterman, Leno and all the talk circuits if there was a boxer I'd record..

Anything not available on US television I had trading partners all over the world sending me things in exchange for things they couldn't acquire or wanted to acquire..

I had the sport on lockdown. Back in those days all the trading of fight tapes was advertised in the backs of the boxing magazines, this was all pre-Internet

After getting married, my wife and I shortly had 2 children here which slowed down the boxing recording but I still watched as much as I could and never missed the hbo fights or the good PPVs. I probably stopped recording after Tito - Jones maybe that feels like one of my final recordings. I continued to watch all of the big fights like I said never missed a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight but I had stopped recording at that point which always felt weird after a fight I always felt like man I need this on tape because it was just second nature

The kicker is of course, all my fights though being safely stored inside my home, with the quality completely intact as it was then, as many know VHS even the best quality in this day of HDTV still leaves a lot to be desired, although my recordings look much better than the majority of what you'll find on YouTube
I've just sadly never had the time to transfer them over.. every once in a while I'll break out one of my still fully operational high tech VCRs (LOL) and hook it up and watch some of the old tapes.. but like I said hooking up a VCR to a 70 inch HDTV doesn't quite look like it used to on the old tube

I'll never part with my collection but at some point maybe I can move some over to more modern formats and share with others..

Anyway I just thought I'd share with the people here commenting on their boxing collections
