Jacobs is a cheat, he broke the rules on weight and it appears he refused to take the drug tests......................Golovkin won the fight clearly..................

To give Jacobs credit he actually did a great job on Golovkin's body. Much better than when he tried to go to the head. IMHO all the punches he slipped under Gena's elbows are what kept him in the fight.

It's actually good news for GGG fans, because it shows that Golovkin can take it hard to the body and keep going. Los of guys would have folded.

    agree completely

starting about two months before the fight, i watched DJ's last 7-8 fights

in my opinion, none of those fights, nor the progression they imply, come close to predicting Daniel's performance on 18 march.

my sense is that he fought the flight of his life against GGG.

and from all accounts it sounds like he preparation was meticulous and exhaustive.

and he still came up well short, which, contrary to his public claims, he knows better than anyone here--he's the one who got hit with all those punches for 12 rounds.

in other words, i'm skeptical that the condition you stated:

If Jacobs can maintain that level....
    will hold

One more thing that makes me ambivalent about Daniel's future in boxing. In the post-fight interview after the Pirog fight, the first thing Daniel said was his loss was due to the fact that he had a bad camp, and the reason for that was that his grandmother had recently died. I don't recall him ever giving any credit to Pirog. Whether that unfortunate event affected his preparation is not really the issue, to me it's that he publicly offered it as an excuse just after losing.

Same theme in his interview after the GGG fight: in Jacobs' view, he won "by at least two rounds", but , as Jacobs claimed, because GGG is a bigger draw and to safeguard the financial stakes in a future GGG-Canelo bout, GGG was giften the decision. Again, i don't recall him ever giving any credit to GGG; indeed, when he mentioned GGG it was to disparage him, eg, "[GGG's power] was a myth. It was a facade. It was smoke and mirrors. It wasn't what I expected." Contrast that with GGG's remarks about Jacobs (eg, "Daniel is my favorite fighter" and "i respect him")

and how did Jacobs comeback after the Pirog loss? With two victories against fighters whose records were 7-13, and 11-12, respectively.

i wonder if he follows the same pattern after his most recent loss

so of course, it's possible to become a world champ without even a sliver of humility, but it's a lot tougher to do so. Without humility, you don't see your weaknesses and therefore the need to improve.

GGG tagged Danny dozens of times with flush shots.

    Glass Jaw????

    Come on Pimp....

The Glass Jaw rumors are proven incorrect.

And from what I understand, the Drs have given Danny a CLEAN bill of health for the past 5 yrs.
Mighta been sick vs Pirog.....????IDK, but the 180lb DJ who fought GGG would blast Pirog out of school him in a route.
