Bad Move, Kovalev will hit ward no matter, its always going to be a fight thats close. Kovalev respected him alot before the lead up. And was trying to outpoint ward, He did it imo. But 'Krusher' kovalev isnt a easy man to avoid, he doesnt miss alot when krushing, he still drills you with accurate straight shots, he just does it with more intent and viciousness. Ward knows kovalev can hit with that jab all night. Ward may think he has the toughness to withstand the 'Krushing' storm early on, in the first fight. Because if he does wind up kovalev so much, and can get through an early onslaught of 'krusher' kovalev, then he can take over the second part of the fight with more effectiveness. Ward is a slow starter, having to alter his style and go toe to toe straight from the bat may not suit him. Two things came from that first fight. Kovalev doesnt think Ward is a master boxer now, Ward doesnt think Kovalev is a killer now. Both are more confident.
Eh i dont think Ward is intimidated at all by anyone. Maybe if he did fight a klitchko like he said he would years ago, he may have shook a bit. lol
and even then the only thing he would be shook about is that is may be harder to get off he's headbutts, he might need to encorporate a little jump or hop into he's run up
A mad Kovalev cannot punch any harder than he punched in the first fight. All he can do is frown harder.
Krusher kovalev, punches more seek and destroy. Giving ward didnt really begin before round 5, Kovalev could definitely employ Krusher mode. it may not advantage him if ward manages to avoid much punishment though.
Seek and destroy means you miss and gas, which is why he didn't imploye the tactic in the first fight.
if it was in germany, klinchko could literally hold ward for 36mins for UD, or rabbit punch him in a 1handed full nelson hold. if its in USA, ward is allowed a spiked helmet and a footstool.
I just think Kovalev still trying to play the boogeyman role is lame, considering they just fought 12 rounds.
Depends if he manages to channel that hatred into a controlled aggression that allows him to perform above and beyond his normal abilities and mercilessly seek to annihilate Ward at every opportunity. If he lets the emotion master him then he'll play right into Ward's hands.
