I counted the punches on my DVR, Kovalev landed not only more punches, but he landed the much harder blows, SOB landed a lot of blows to the balls.........................held, grabbed Kovalev's leg, etc., Harold Lederman had the fight 116 - 111 Kovalev, even Mayweather had Kovalev winning and he hates Euro fighters...............the vast majority of the boxing fans had Kovalev winning...................Kovalev's jab was awesome, SOB could not stop that jab, it staggered SOB, Kovalev knocked SOB down, now for the rematch, SOB had to pick all three judges, the referee and he already has the boxing commission. It was one of them ass beatings where the guy suppodibly on the receiving end didnt have a scratch on him, while the guy handing out the beating ended up wearing sunglasses and going to hospital

I haven't watched this specific video, but have reviewed the fight several times since it took place. One thing that has been coming up in this thread is something that is one of my biggest takeaways from this fight - the fact that Kovalev COMPREHENSIVELY out-jabbed Ward - like, the jab game was not even close. Kovalev dominated Ward in that regard.

What Ward did well, in my opinion, was selling himself to the judges as being in control of the fight in the second half. When you look at the punches that are actually landing and who is being more consistently effective in that regard it is Kovalev all day - but Ward LOOKS like he is in control and in his groove and dictating from the outside. Which, I think swung him some rounds that we was being realistically outfought in. And as far as punches landed, it was only really the bodywork that he got off with any regularity.

The rematch will be interesting. Will Ward try and compensate for the jab? Will he go for a similar approach as fight 1? Will Kov throw caution to the wind (which may play right into Ward's hands?). It may sound counter-intuitive but I think Kovalev just needs to go out and do what he did in the first fight but turn up the contrast/volume - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Technique wise it was enough to neutralise Ward for the most part - but he needs to ramp that up just slightly.
