Which fight, or fighter dissappointed you the most?

Haye v Vlad total carp paid money to watch it. Haye gave it the barrys and then run like a theif.Terrible!.Most disappointing fighter probably Gonzalez at HW .with that haircut you had better be able to fight.

 

Chad Dawson disappointed me quite a bit. Not that he was exciting or very appealing, but I felt he could have had a much longer title reign than he did. Chad had the tools needed to have a lengthy reign and in my opinion had the physical ability to beat anyone around within a few years of his title reign. His main problem seemed to be more in his head and with his motivation.

 

LOL your right though I do remember Ray walking out with some battle scars that night.

For me it was David Tua`s non effort against Lennox Lewis. A couple of decent right hands by Lewis had Tua saying "No Mas" for the rest of night. Overall Razor Ruddock`s career after Tyson. He had the physical tools to be a force in the divsion but couldnt put the skillset together along with the mental part of the game. In fairness it was a tough division at that time.

 

Joe Bugner, apart from stopping Chuck Wepner on cuts and destroying Richard Dunn, had a very boring style.
I never liked big heavyweights who fought very cautiously. Bugner was a fighter who i called a pecker and a poker. He'd use his height and reach to carefully peck and poke his way to a decision victories. When faced with aggressive guys such as Ali, Frazier, and Ron Lyle he was simply just happy to go the distance and lose. When Earnie Shavers knocked him down and stopped him on a cut I was glad Earnie kicked his butt.
His fight against Frank Bruno was atrocious. He came to England spouting off at the mouth, saying he was going to knock Bruno out. His punches had no power at all on them, strictly arm punches the entire fight. Then again Frank in my opinion never actually knocked him down, Bugner was thrown down and the ref in my opinion was being partial to Bruno, another least favorite of mine, but thats a different thread.

 

I think Bugner disappointed all of us in the U.K.
The thing was I think we all had the feeling that somewhere deep
beneath the surface, that killer was in there somewhere but it virtually never ever came out.
He just repeatedly seemed to stink the joint out.

 

Hatton vs Pacquioa.

This has to be one of the worst performances by a so called Elite Linear champion ever. Hatton was just plain awful for the 5.50 minutes he was in the ring.

 

Don't know if anyone remembers a heavyweight named Lionel Butler, was 6-10 when Joe Goosen found him fighting with no trainer or any training at all! , He was 5-11 235 Joe worked with him and he began knocking people unconscious and ran off a string of KO's absolutely destroyed Tony Tubbs and earned a shot at the title. What happened? failed the prefight drug test showed up weighing 260 ,got stopped and vanished back to the street I guess.

 

Yeah, Buster rolled over like a puppy wanting his belly scratched.

Yea I remember him. I believe he lost to Lewis around `95. He had power though.

 

My 2 nominees here are
1. Eddie Mustafa Muhammad - After one of the most brilliant and self assured performances by a super talented fighter...against Marvin Johnson when he achieved winning the lightheavyweight title, and defended so brilliantly against a tough and dangerous Jerry The Bull Martin, he reverted to being a real screwball with no good judgement at all by going up to heavyweight for a pointless loss to a pertrified with fear Renaldo Snipes...and Snipes won through capitalizing on his physical advantages and nothing else...oh, and a sensible fight plan, based on fear...Snipes fought like he was the smaller man, running for his life. Eddie Mustafa never recovered from the melt down back to 175 and subsequently lost to Michael Spinks, who I believe he would have beaten had he remained all that time in his ideal weight division.
2. Gerrie Coetzee - Gerrie looked absolutely sensational vs Leon Spinks then he too reverted to being a mental case...a mental case with no self confidence at all...got ko'ed by Mike Weaver...a man he should have beaten had his head been screwed on straight. Sure Gerrie went on to ko Mike Dokes for a portion of the title, but he was never the same again, and fell in love too much with his power...that Bionic right hand of his and didn't...IMHO anyway, fight his best vs Greg Page.

 

Yeah, Chad Dawson for sure....what a major disappointment he was.

 

Meldrick Taylor/Julio Cesar Chavez 1...still bothers me....

 

I remember Butler when he was on his hot streak. He also ko'd Bonecrusher Smith, breaking Smith's jaw in the process. i believe it was on USA's Tuesday Night Fights

 

Pac Mayweather was a major let down
