Remember when boxing went through the trouble of pretending to give the visiting fighter a fair scorecard by making sure he lost narrowly?

    Pepperidge Farms remembers.

116-111 is within the realm of possibility...But 119-108 and 118-109 just don't reflect what took place in the fight.

Scorecards aside, that's now on the shortlist for FOTY in a year that's already featured a couple of instant classics.

The right man won, but Marriage still would've lost if he'd scored 2-3 knockdowns. Kind of sours the awesomeness of the fight when one guy gets screwed that bad.

Super wide cards, the fix was obviously in. Good luck beating this dude on the cards

According to the majority the right man won though.

Cards a bit biased but I doubt there was anything crooked as some of you are implying. Too much bitching and moaning about cards that don't match ours.

As to the fight, I think Valdez would have stopped Marriaga had his corner not insisted on him "go(ing) in and out" and "make sure you box him".

Many Years ago I remember the Referee would decide the Winner...Maybe we should go back to that...because something Drastic certainly has to be done....I thought the right decision but scores were to wide.!!!!

That's because his power isn't actually as good as his knockout percentage suggests. People have this image of Valdez being some kind of concussive puncher, he more often doesn't land shots with his knuckles - and those tend not to be the knockout shots.

I did say Valdez's style will make him gas out quicker - look how much energy he exhausts into throwing those power punches, and a high frequency of it.

I'd say Nicholas Walters' stock has risen. People have dismissed Walters as a bum because he quit against Lomachenko, well guess what, the least we can say is that he was once a very good fighter.
