Khan to thurman "Forget Porter fight me"

Khan is hilarious

 

I'm not a Khan fan boy, thank you very much. I can't get caught up in all that adulation and hatred like some posters.

Khan is at the end of his career now and, personally, I couldn't care less if he ever boxes again.

Furthermore if Khan does somehow get the Thurman fight then he's almost certain to get knocked out.

However, I am cable of being objective. Khan is no ATG but he has had a great career and he does have a better resume than most. He hasn't faced any truly weak opposition in years.

I like Garcia, but his resume can also look a little shaky under close scrutiny, same as most fighters. Garcia's best wins are Matthysee and Khan; full credit to him for both.

 

Three years ago he had a chance, now he's just completely broken. Thurman will kill him.

 

Thurman called Kahn out years ago and he wasn't interested.

I hope Keith gives him the same cold shoulder yet I wouldn't hold it against him if he was tempted to put Kahn asleep permanently.

He has what names that anyone should crown him for? Austin Trout has names on his resume too and he is always in a good fight, no fanfare. Tim Bradley has names , no fanfare. Chris Algieri has names, no fanfare. So what makes Khan enjoyable? The fact that he is a hypejob that gets KO'd so effortlessly. It's the same argument I have with people about Adrien Broner. He hasn't done jack **** but people want to see him get a big fight just for talking ****.

Boxing fans rig boxing worse than the mafia and current promoters ever could. I feel bad for the actual guys that really want to be champions in this sport. If you don't have a male fan club jacking you off and praising you like Jesus then you don't stand a chance at making it.

Boxing has more predictable story Arch's than wrestling does. It really, really feminine acting .

Bradley, JMM, Broner, J Vargas, Ali, Burns - they're fights that could be made that I'd watch. Thurman would not be considering Khan at all and Khan may have had 1 too many knockouts if he thinks it's a possibility.

 

its an insult to boxing and us fans. This guy talks his way into big fights and doesnt earn it in the ring. He should get no title shots until he beats somebody.

Look. I'm not trying to claim that Khan is an ATG, nor is he really in a position to pick and choose the most high profile fights. Thurman would likely KO him in any case.

As to what makes Khan enjoyable it's the fights he puts on. You may not agree, but I believe most fans find his fights entertaining. Win or lose, he's rarely in a bad fight.

Regarding the names you mention, I would agree that Bradley has a better resume. However, Trout, Algeri and Broner do not. I wouldn't criticise those guys either, though, they've all had decent careers and all been in some decent, entertaining fights.

Khan's best win is surely Maidana, but his wins over Malignaggi, Judah, Algeri and Alexander are also pretty good. I give him credit for the Peterson fight, too.

What do you really expect from a pro boxer in this era? How many prime, world class fighters does any boxer fight and beat these days? Even for the biggest stars it's a handful at best. It's easy to pick apart most fighters resumes. They all fight lesser opposition more often than not. I still say Khan has done pretty good and he's fought more credible opposition than most. Who else should he have fought?

Compare Khan's record to Brook and Garcia, for example. Brook turned pro a year before Khan, but apart from Porter who has he beaten? At 31 Brook is unlikely to catch up with Khan in terms of opposition faced.

As for Garcia, his best wins are Matthysse and Khan. Who else has he beaten? An ancient Morales? He arguably lost to Herrera and Peterson. Also Khan fought Peterson and Judah years before Garcia did. Is Guerreo really any worse than Khan's level of opposition? Rod Salka? At least Khan didn't fight anyone like Salka when he made the jump in weight.

I wouldn't criticise Garcia or Brook either, by the way, they're both doing great, but what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Khan has had had a better career than most. If he can secure another high profile fight then good luck to him.

I agree that match making in boxing is a farce, but what can you do? Lots of worthy boxers do get overlooked and always have, but, again, what can you do? Personally I just enjoy the fights we do get.

Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree about Khan. I cannot go on back and forth like this. I think Khan has had a decent career and beaten some decent opposition. You don't see it that way and that is absolutely fine by me.

 

Well, I don't really listen to Khan speak or any other fighters for that matter. I just watch the fights we get.

I agree that Khan needs to reestablish himself before getting another big pay day, he is coming off a loss after all.

No, Khan's wins aren't pretty good. Judah was shot, Malignaggi lost every time he stepped up, Algieri lost every round to Pacquiao and got obliterated by Spence, Kotelnik hasn't beaten anyone, and Alexander got gifts over Kotelnik and Matthysse, and had already lost to Bradley and Porter when Khan fought him.

Yup he would. Too much pressure and Khan does not have the sort of power to keep him at a distance.

 

I give up! I'm not particularly bothered about Khan in any case.

By the same standards all resumes must be worthless according to the posters in this thread.

So of all Khan's contemporaries who does have a string of quality wins over prime, undefeated opposition?

Is it Brook? Garcia? Thurman? Porter? Spence? Bradley? They've all fought sub par opposition and guys with losses. What do you expect?
