Ok, I get it but if you have a guy on the ropes and he's ready to go, why not do something like a left hook to the body and a right up stairs? Instead he's going throwing wild right hand after right hand and it's easy for Joshua to see it coming and avoid it just barely. That's what I mean.
I think he showed more punch variety in this fight than in most of his recent outings. After he dropped Joshua, he landed some good uppercuts.
Just watch the Wlad of the Mercer fight and the one tonight, two completely different animals. Although he's **** poor at them he caught Joshua with a big uppercut after he knocked him down.
If klitschko had a better punch variety he would have stopped joshua. Only a straight right hand and a looping left hook so joshua adjusted cause there was nothing else
I thought about getting my eyes checked when I saw that uppercut, it was almost alien to see that lol.
He was throwing one punch at a time because he was so tired. I don't think you can call him limited for not throwing body/head, head/body type combination shots. He is capable of doing it. You should criticize his boxing IQ instead, because he thought the better/safer choice was to throw the right hand, since he's less susceptible to get countered. I do think Joshua was done, but he still was swinging wildly. I feel like a younger Wlad would have just teed off on him with long range shots from the outside if he was younger, not just right hands because he would have the confidence to throw these combinations without worrying about gassing, or getting caught in between combinations.
True a younger Wlad probably would have stopped him in that same situation, but it goes to show that he should have adapted his game better with age as now he's got his gas tank to worry about, and having two punches is not a good idea when you have to make every shot count.
I think he strategically bulked up for this fight. See how easily he was able to Push Vladimir around and prevent him from kneeling on him like the does smaller fighters.
He's too long for Wlad to be able to utilize it. I really hope that he abandons this bodybuilder experiment and instead focuses on being more in boxing shape.
Klitschko should have won that fight. Joshua was out on his feet and Wlad did nothing. Joshua has a glass chin and I Think Ortiz would ko him early. Wilder may beat him as well.
That and nerves. Nervousness zaps anyone of their energy. Its a way bigger problem then most non boxers realize. Good post by the way! I agree
You haven't seen many WK's early fight, have you? You had a freaking technical machine, every punch was a textbook punch and he could throw a combos like a MW. He's unfortunately half a fighter his brother is. His chin is fine, but he reacts really badly when he got hit, especially early in his career. With Em Steward, they adapted a cautious approach of controlling the distance through his size, footwork and speed. He's been fighting for way too long like that to change with 40. Even as a 35 years old, with his speed intact, he gets AJ out there without hardly getting hit. He's nowhere near even 5 years ago unfortunately and it's been painfully obvious since the Jennkins fight.
