Do You Think The Fight Was Stopped To Early?

I thought it was a little bit premature. Atleast give Wlad the chance to weather the storm as Joshua has shown he tires after throwing combinations. A great win, great combinations from Joshua, but a legend should be given more time under the circumstances. What's your thoughts?

No. It actually could have been stopped after the 2nd knockdown.

A bit premature. Some refs want to be great and others..well. Lol

No, don't be silly. The ref has a responsibility to do his best to ensure the safety of the fighters. Wlad was getting tagged left right and centre. AJ was strong and the only place Wlad was going was back to the canvas. Perfect stoppage imo. You know it is when the fighter or the corner don't argue at all.

No not at all. It was perfect timing to stop it. Wlad was only going to be knocked down again- and wasnt able to properly defend himself at that point....

I think the fight was over as soon as that upper cut landed. It took everything out of Wlad, and the subsequent knock downs were just a consequence of that uppercut.

You can see in slow motion that WK looks at the ref as the ref approaches while AJ throws and misses. He was getting blasted but had all his senses to him.

Maybe it was a tad premature, but he was not firing back unfortunately and was in bad trouble. Think he would have lost anyway, if he could have KO AJ, he would have in the 6th round.

I think it was stopped at the perfect time. Wlad had been down twice and was on the ropes taking unanswered shots, ref moved in at the right time.

Based on how Wlad was fighting that moment? It could be argued he was still defending himself.

But he just had two KDs right before this.

That's what makes the difference and makes this an acceptable stoppage in my opinion.

Most of the punches that forced the stoppage either missed or were blocked so in a strict sense yeah it was an early stoppage but Wlad was spent at that point and probably wouldn't have lasted much longer.

If there had been a few secs left on the round yes, but there was still 30 secs to go. Overall I'm okay with it.

Wlad had been down twice in the round and was in the corner taking shots with 30-40s to go, fair decision in my opinion!

Brave decision too from the ref, think I heard commentators say it's his first world title fight?
