With Klitschko close to retirement and recently involved in a FOTY candidate have we finally reached that new heavyweight era that's finally exciting again? Heavyweight seems pretty stacked and it will certainly help boxing a lot.
Yes it is. I was pumped after fury vs Wlad and totally let down by Furys retirement, lol Now I'm excited again.
Its always been exciting but it's definitely been upped a notch. However, we'll still have to muddle through the same old problem of top 5-20 contenders not facing each other, which hurts the excitement and sport
Lol!! Well it's been exciting. Not sure why some people all the sudden find it exciting again. Possible Wlad/Joshua rematch.. Fury coming back, Povetkin returning, Parker possibly baiting Wilder in the ring so Deontey can get clipped.. Hrgovic turning pro.. Teslenko on the rise.. Hell yeah fun times ahead!
It's more exciting now, because all the champions are young guns and in their prime, but hopefully they can all put their egos aside and push towards one undisputed champion in the division. The Heavyweight division is alive again, no doubt
Its been exciting for the last few years since the rise of Wilder, Joshua and Parker IMO. Some might say no it isnt but they still watch the HW big fights.
It has the potential to come ablaze. But that's dependent on top fighters actually fighting each other. Luckily, guys like Parker and Povetkin seem willing to fight anyone, and Ortiz seems to have no problems taking on whoever. You've also got a couple of the lower level guys like Chisora and Takam who seem game for anybody. I just hope Joshua follows in Wlad's footsteps and takes them all on in due time.
I think in recent years it has been more competitive and therefore more exciting with the rise of Parker, Joshua, Fury and even Wilder. But last night we saw something else. It definitely went up a notch in terms of excitement. That was the best top level heavyweight fight in 20 years. It was better than Lewis/Vitali, perhaps not since we saw Bowe/Golota 2 have we seen a top level heavyweight fight with that much drama. As long as the big fights get made, I think the division will remain entertaining. All roads lead to Joshua at the moment, he's the big star and cash cow of the division now. Let's hope Wilder mans up and decides to step up, he's the only one I think who might want to avoid the fight.
No, you know who thinks this fight was exciting? Stupid Brits, stupid European boxing fans, and little kids who don't know better. This fight was boring. Wow a boxer got knocked down and got back up? Yeah in boxing history that never happened. Wlad was afraid to get hit. AJ was afraid to get hit. When they did get hit they went down. Neither one can take a punch. Neither one had stamina. If they were fighting elite guys like Lewis, Foreman, Tyson and others they both would of been sparked out in a few rounds.
