what did u guys score on rd 5 of wlad v joshua ?

10-8 AJ.

I would really only consider a 10-9 after a knockdown if it was a flash knockdown with the fighter straight back to his feet, and dominating either side of it.

That was a powerful knockdown from AJ - deserves a 10-8 even if Wlad did push the action afterwards.

 

One judge scored it 10-9 Joshua, the other two had it 10-8

Legit way of scoring

 

10-8, Joshua knocked down Wladimir, and dominated the first half of the round and Wladimir the second. Despite him looking really good in the last minute I don't think it warrants a 10-9 round.

 

Joshua has a HGH gut and the structure of face has changed since he was an amateur but he clean doe.

 

10-9 josua. No problem with 10-8 anyway.

 

Yep!! The 6 pack gutt while he's not able to stand straight and see his feet is probably just do to Creatine bloat.

Wlad did well in the last 90 seconds, but not enough to erase that opening pummeling and big KD point advantage Joshua picked up.

While it was dramatic watching live, I rewatched that fifth round later and Wlad didn't do nearly as great as I thought he was doing. The tide was turning, the recovery, the momentum, mapping out the rest of the fight... but scoring that round as it should be scored, in my mind it's a clear 10-8 for Joshua. I can see why emotions made people proclaim "10-9!" right after the bell rang. But it diminishes the emphasized point of losing a point with a knockdown. A knockdown in a pro boxing match is significantly more important than buzzing the guy a bit and landing a good half dozen blows.

 

10-9 for Joshua since it's ten point must. Joshua scored the knockdown and had a good 30 seconds, but Wlad won the round so he gained his point back.

 

It's called 10 point must. So what does the 'must' stand for if it doesn't mean the winner of the round gets 10 points?

Clear me up on the rules, guy goes down but then batters the other guy within an inch. That's still 10-8? If so that is BS.

So the two clowns that scored it 10-8 thought Joshua won the round despite him taking a battering and staggering back to his stool in something less than a straight line. Wow.

 

This is something I didn't know about boxing scoring - cheers, good to know.

I have to add, it seems really stupid to me. As soon as someone gets a knock down they get two points - regardless of if they win the rest of the round.

The boxer either earns one point for the knock down and one point for winning the round IF they win it, or they get two points for the knock down if the other guy wins it... it's just that technically the other guy never gets a point for winning the round, instead of that point being given to the guy that got the knock down. It'll read different on the individual rounds but the final scores will be tallied up to the same effect. It seems like nonsense to me.
