It was the biggest ppv bout at the time, and a pretty good competitive fight

I had it a draw. Maybe Oscar ahead by a round. It's a shame Floyd "retired" to duck the rematch clause.

Oscar was well ahead at the halfway point, and then ran out of gas. Just like he did against Trindad. Oscar rarely trained hard enough at that stage of his career. Pity, because it was clear that during the portions of the fight in which both combatants were actually fighting, Oscar was the superior fighter. Credit to Floyd for always taking his career serious enough to come in excellent shape. It is not Floyd's fault he fought a version of De La Hoya that was less than his best.

PBF landed the cleaner harder shots took Oscar's jab away watched him fade down the stretch on cue and won that fight 9-3 or 8-4 going away. Log off.

Superior fighter? I sure as hell didn't see that. I saw PBF hitting Oscar with more clean and harder shots and countering. Oscar's aggression was ineffective and he missed alot when PBF was on the ropes. Oscar's jab was really the only thing effective until PBF took that away. What you also fail to mention is that was PBF's first fight at 154 a weight he had no business at and he was not at his best.

Bullsh it. Floyd at 147+ is one of the best fighters in terms of adapting to his opponent in the history of the sport. It's not all that much different from what happened to Mosley, Judah, Hatton, etc.

damn I remember going to class the next Monday and everyone talked about it. was the only fight I saw greatly discussed by non fans

decent fight Oscar did very well but Floyd took over. good technical and competitive fight

I rooted for Oscar but was shocked when someone scored it his way

I thought Mayweather never had to leave third gear in that fight. First fight of Oscar where I thought he started to show signs of being shot.

Oscar was in better form than the Sturm fight and probably the Hopkins fight too.

Think I had it 8-4 Floyd. Thought it was a pretty clear cut win for him. Oscar didn't make much contact aside from the jab in a few rounds.

I just watched Pacquiao vs Mayweather also, Floyd's pretty inaccurate. As good as his defense is, he missed a lot of punches too.

9-3 Floyd, only issue is how many rounds you want to falsely give Oscar

Handing off of the "PPV King" torch.

Oscar did a whole lot better than a whole lot of fighters in his shoes did (both as the old guy fighting the young buck to take his place and also in general vs. Mayweather)... I will say Floyd looked a whole lot sharper when he went back to junior middleweight 5 years later against Cotto and Alvarez, both better opponents than Oscar was at this time.
