He loked more powerful than chavez and his punches looked harder than those of Martinez when he fought chavez. Canelos punches visibly discouraged chavez from really taking the fight to alvarez after his initial gameplan of trying to box went south. I think canelos chances look very good against Golovkin given that Golovkin is supposedly a good 15 pounds lighter than chavez in the ring.
Yes but it's hardly gonna shock GGG a guy used to fighting middleweights,GGG will look to walk through him like he did v Brook
GGG got hit by Lemieux and didn't seem too buzzed. Canelo's constant heavy and accurate punching will pose an issue for GGG though.
It's Canelo's accuracy. Most of Golovkin's opponents aren't accurate enough to deter him. And the shots that did land from Lemeuix and Stevens didn't always have a lot on them. That said, Canelo isn't going to land shots at will. I'm curious if Golovkin chooses to box, or to put on a show.
I dont think its a choice. The notion that a pro boxers get to choose how to win against another top fighter just based on how they feel is ridiculous. GGG isnt RJJ or SRL. Even SRL got his ass kicked bad when he thought he could brawl with Duran. GGG didnt choose to box lemieux or choose to brawl with brook because thats how he felt, for both fights it was his best option because of Lemieux power and Brook's Speed. That Notion is Naive. This is big time pro sports, they dont play like that.
I think we will see the GGG from the Lemieux fight, controlling with the jab and countering with heavy shots and backing up Canelo from the start. I just hope to God that Oscar does not rig it somehow. He has turned into pure slime lately.
Canelo isn't a power puncher and of course he is going to look better than Chavez who was yet another fighter Canelo and Oscar weight drained.
