Canelo was smoother on his feet tonight than I've ever seen him. His footwork has improved as has his stamina and overall skill set.....GGG will have his hands full
I can't understand why Canelo is so underrated in this matchup, i'm a GGG fan but Canelo is a highly skilled counterpuncher with a good defense, i think this will be a 50-50 fight. Canelo will be the best opponent GGG has ever faced in the ring.
At the time he fought them, they were no longer a threat... And Cotto rocked the **** outta Canelo and about sent him through the ropes and stumbling across the ring in the first round..
Canelo will be a good opponent But GGGs boxing & ring craft will see him cut down the ring vs Canelo & from then Canelo will be in all sorts of trouble
It can be hard for people's opinions to be fluid despite the situation being so. This fight has been in the works for so long, yet people are still maintaining the same opinions they did since day 1 of it being mentioned. It will have been almost 2 years since the Cotto fight when GGG-Canelo comes off. I thought GGG would win clearly when it was first brought up, but the wait has worked out for Canelo, who's now at his peak. It's a much closer fight now.
If Canelo fancied his chances that much against GGG he would have faced him by now. They've sparred before and Canelo knows what awaits him. Golovkin is a crushingly dominant champion in the weightclass above Canelo's, and most of his fights end up with the pther guy having a little light shone in his eyes. Canelo had a stiff fight with Liam Smith and old man Cotto. There's a reason Golovkin is the overwhelming favourite. He has literally no weaknesses other than his age and average speed. I think Canelo will look good for a while - he IS an excellent fighter. But I think Golovkin is a cut above, and I think he will prove it when they fight.

GGG has never been a fast fighter. He's dealt with faster opponents since he was an amateur. His deal is walking opponent down, using angles, and timing. He's a master at this, he really is. Beyond his power the man knows how to win fights on the cards after 300+ amateur fights and only 5 losses. Canelo was 44-2. GGG is a much more seasoned fighter overall. Canelo has a punchers chance and don't think it will necessarily be a cakewalk for GGG but GGG will probably need to KO canelo to get the decision. Outboxing him won't be enough I don't think due to biased judges.
