Good interview from David Haye @GALVATRON He said " If you get hit with 5 or 6 punch combinations by someone as monstrous as Anthony Joshua, no matter who you are or how good you are or how big you are... " and that it takes someone " very special " to beat him. This content is protected
Featherfisted cruiser Steve Cunningham had Fury on the canvas. A real, hard-hitting HW like Joshua would keep him there.
Overall he will improve on when and when not to exert punches this only comes with experience as you saw bc hes not a long distance fighter, hes used to 3 rounds on average. Joshua in general will just gauge different syles better with more fights making that easier for him.He also weighed more,he dopesnt weigh the same all the time ,he will also better adjust to proper weight of whats needed, the 250 was probably for punch resistance and physical strength, notice Klitchko couldnt control him much there, so its a double ended riskt that worked for him THIS time...i assume he will come in lighter with more confidance next time. . In skills themselves? He can still get more leverage on that monster uppercut. The jab is about 90% there,he doesn't really utilize it like a big man bc hes better at mid range/inside fighting that's why hes not there yet,and maybe wont be since that's really not how he sets up everything? Its still a very good jab ,good enough to knock down opponents with just on its power. He can dig in shots more use more leverage on his power punches ,hes very heavy handed and hes only using 80% of what he can actually use at some angles. This can be done with a different set up punching bag ..lower chain and chained won with 2 chains hanging on each side for a more realistic set up of hitting a solid object. i have a vid of myself with this set up in the training section. When you have long hanging bags with one chain in center takes away from developing a better punch. i understand hes a fast combo puncher and that's what they work on mostly but he would increase his one punch power with that set up. I'm going to do another one when im a bit better to show this. People are also critisizing his head movement ,but hes 6'6 and does a catch counter style where he comes back with a punch easier...more head movement is fine but again with more fights ,he will react to punches thrown at him better. klitchko was a great win bc joshua was not the smarter boxer in there for once but still adjusted and fought the wrong fight and won bc he found a way in the 11th round in a close fight. Joshua biggest strength really is his ability to adapt to an opponent without much advise ,he knows when hes in there what to do,many fighters have to be pleaded with round after round...hes not one of them. In short the improvements come with basically more fights ,he will look more refined with each fight, hes added things every fight to his game because thats what elite fighters can do.
Yea i watched this last night actually. Haye is not going to beat joshua though..lol i do think he could still get a top 5 spot. We'll see.
I would put David Haye ( if he comes back in top shape ) as a favorite against anyone from the bottom half of the top 10 and probably against Joseph Parker.
Because it was clear that coming off of the back of an unexpected loss Wlad was better prepared and more up for it in the AJ fight, and to be fair he turned in a far better performance even though he got stopped by AJ than he did when Fury beat him by a few rounds.
If Fury boxes then I think it will be hard for Joshua to reach him. However Joshua can work the body aswell so it will be hard to Fury to outbox him. I think Joshua takes it.
Yea Parker? I dont know, that guy was his sparring partner( you have to be friends if you are in someones camp)...one has to wonder if that was a ploy to make ppl think Parker wasnt as good?? lol
According to the poll most people think Joshua is the best heavyweight around right now. Was not sure how the poll was going to go to be honest.
Well, fury truly barely beat a very out of it "mentally" Wlad, that's a fact. Another fact is Wlad only engaged to win in the 11th & 12th and he got to fury in both rounds easily. I'm firmly of the belief Wlad looked at fury as a routine defense, nothing more and even though his personal life was an absolute mess expected a fairly comfy win. Once in the fight it became much harder than he thought. Took him way too long to switch his mindset and he simply ran out of time. There were reasons he tried desperately to get fury back in the ring, fury wanted nothing to do with a rematch. That 17 months off of obsessively preparing to destroy anyone greatly helped him. like many had said, that was the very best any of us had seen of Wlad. IDGAF he was 41, fmj was at his very best @36. Wlad went a decade with hardly any damage, that dude is in great physical and mental shape up till the Aj fight. I have to believe Aj took a toll, and giving everything you have and admitting (Wlad himself) that nothing went wrong and he was ON, has to mentally be draining. Fury did NOT out class Wlad, that was competitive and truthfully it was a single shot per round different. The expectations going in were what made the win far more than what it was
People are underestimating the importance of mental state in a fight, you can't go to war with someone when you are depressed and Wlad had problems in his personal life because his wife had postpartum depression at the time. Wladimir also underestimated Tyson Fury and there is a reason why Tyson Fury pulled out of the rematch two times, because he knew he wouldn't have it that easy again.
I'm with you, the posters that prove post in post out they are utterly clueless I've begun to do my best just ignoring them and letting their ignorance flow. Aj can NOT beat a mentally stable in fight shape Wlad or aj, EVER
