Since Canelo wants nothing to do with the WBC, that belt won't be on the line. Canelo will opt out of the next day weight in for the 10lb max rehydration for the IBF belt. That leaves the WBA and IBO belt. If Canelo wins he only takes 1 legitimate belt. Thoughts?
All of GGG's belts will be on the line. If Canelo doesnt want the WBC its his problem. And its silly for a champ to get beaten and still remain champ, like Gassiev vs Lebedev

Wouldn't most guys just want to win back that WBC belt instead of going full diva about it. He could potentially turn things round and go a long way to putting that behind him by winning it back,strange choices from Oscar and Canelo.
Oscar said that any belts that will be on the line will be announced in the future. This fight is a long way off..............
Yea I know. It's good for the quality and toughness of keeping it but in these high profile fights it really puts the champ at a disadvantage. I guess more props if the champ retains the belt but most people throughout history will not remember that detail. For the Jacobs and Canelo fight it puts GGG at an immediate disadvantage.
Its good in concept but its now just being abused. No one really gives a damn about trying to win the trinket if the guy they're fighting is as dangerous as Golovkin. The allure of surviving against and taking GGGs zero is worth a million times what the trinket ever will be
I'd really like to know what the IBF plans to do about this, it's in their best interest to protect their champion and not have their title become vacant everytime a fighter bends the rules. On the other hand, I never heard about the same day weigh in in the Kovalev - Ward fight. Did that actually happen?
