Wow you're glass is half full and there's nothing wrong in that but come on It's got nothing to do with folk on here bitching and moaning,if you can find me one media report inc Mexican that calls this anything other than what it was you're doing well. Look I can see where you're coming from but it's a poor do when we're calling a WWE style entrance and ring interview better than the actual fight and it was already made anyway weeks prior, anyway I do agree in that it's good for boxing that this fight between top class guys has been made. Canelo turned up and did his thing without sitting down such was his confidence,I think the only thing we found out is that Canelo has more energy from not going through that awful weight cut at 154,my worry is that this fight didn't prepare him for GGG at middleweight,he did what he had to but the level of Chavez was so bad it didn't prepare him in my opinion.
Oh I don't think anyone thinks that as he's such a pro,you seen Chavez at the weigh in,someone made a thread on here saying he had no arse lol,he couldn't turn up as he was totally spent, great tune up for facing Golovkin eh?
I guess you're a "glass half full" type of guy yourself, since we seem to agree in just about everything in regards to the fight. THe main difference between your take and mine is that you're doing it from a hindsight perspective. The fight definitely failed and turned into a worse case scenario but Jr was no more drained than when he came in against Martinez and the hope was that the extra pounds would allow him to be more energetic and in the very least put up a some tough skirmishes like he did then. And in regards to the media and most boxing pundits, the initial reaction to this fight was to be skeptical due to Jr's lack of discipline but most reports all the way up to the official weigh in seemed to indicate that he was super motivated for this fight and had successfully taken off the weight and looked good and ready. So much so that even the odds makers had to make some changes in the odds. If you want to claim that you're one of those that wasn't fooled, then good for you but that just means you had no idea what this rivalry was all about and the reason why over 1 mill ppv subscribers, seemingly, paid for this.
I feel so sorry for the fools who bought the PPV fake fight....................there was no fight, a fight was never intended, but Chavez should have, at least, pretended to fight, like WWE..............
The sad part is that two truly great Mexican fighters Marquez and Vazquez probably got sweet FA for their wars. If they were the size of Canelo they would eaten him alive, yet don't get fairly compensated; let alone junior who is a joke.
That's impressive. So huge PPV's for joshua fight in England, big ppv's for the Chavez fight. It seems boxing is certainly not dead
Nah, I dont buy it. Chávez was not so drained as some people say, actually I saw him pretty fine. And even de la hoya (you could see his knees from the moon, such drained he was) when he fought pac, threw more. Chávez fought like that because of his mind-state, fear to counterpunches and lack of good strategy. A drained fighter doesnt fight like that. I've seen enough boxing in my life not to buy that BS.
it could hurt, the fight was such a one sided disappointment that it could turn off a ton of potential future ppv buyers. people are still upset over the mayweather vs pac snoozefest.
