After hearing Hearn saying once again fighters are getting paid too much for fight people dont want to see, then almost immediately confirming he wants to make Campbell v Linares my only conclusion is he wants rid of Luke Campbell... i was under the impression it was Hearn putting Campbell in with bums from day 1 ,but perhaps reading between the lines it is the fighter that is not confident enough to make bigger strides? Matchroom are pretty big time now i can see a cull coming(although i think a lot of them fight ad hoc for Hearn)
Linares is carrying glass. Mitchell asked a few questions and two wins against Crolla made him look very good. Linares is his best shot at winning a world title, I dont think he beats Easter/Garcia/Flannagan. It's either take a fight against Linares or sit around waiting for someone to vacate. Linares is known over here now so the fight will sell.
I don't think that at all. If Campbell has anything about him he should want the fight. We need to to get away from the 'not right now' and 'one more fight' mentality. Josh Warrington didn't fight Selby because they wanted 'one more fight' and it was just ridiculous. You can't keep waiting. Yes Linares is a level above Campbell but what's the the other options? Losing to Linares doesn't mean the end.
That's just the way it is. His in a division with quality champions. Eventually he has to fight one. Nobody wants to see Campbell just fighting opponents we know he will beat.
i dont think you are really getting my point.... i think Campbell has been moved far too slowly..now jumping up to Linares could be an attempt to bin him by Hearn
Agree one of the biggest flaw in hearns set up. As a fan its hard to complain. Personally would prefer to see guys get the right step ups at the right time tho. Can see hearn ruining good potential with his matchmaking basically to make quick money. Cant really blame hearn tho you know what you sign up for. But he seems to get the younger guys and the older guys that are looking a bit finished wrong for me with his matchmaking. Hes better at the guys that need to breakthrough more like froch etc. Guys that are proven but need the next step up. Brooks been a bit hit and miss he has given him the oppertunity eventually. But his matchmaking is pretty all over the place not doing them any favours.
People criticise Hearn for making one sided fights then moan it's too much of a step up when he gives his fighters a challenge. Why wouldn't any boxer want to test themselves against the best?, especially when you're a gold medalist yourself.
Its not about refusing to take challenges mate. More to do with taking the challenges at the wrong time. Think the problem is its usually useless safe opposition followed by a good or great fighter. That linares will probably take years off of campbell. Why not give him fights to bridge the gap between the guy he just fought and linares. At least give the guys a chance of winning.
Bookies obviously like Campbell and maybe not crolla - they've got him and crolla both even for potential fight ....... and Flanagan odds on fav if him and crolla fight
Was interesting to hear warren say linares team didn't want Flanagan fight, frank said they point blank said they didn't want to fight a southpaw. But could just be warren bullshiting like Flanagan fight don't excatly bring in the big bucks like Garcia or Campbell.
