Will PPV ever go away?

    It sickens me that Pac's/Canelo's promoters feel that every one of their fights is worthy of PPV. More sickening yet that cards only a handful of years ago were priced at $50, and are now priced at $80. If they want to do this for ultra-elite fights fine, but for certain fighters to have every one of their fights on PPV is a joke. I used to be a fan of Pacquaio, not anymore, and this is why.

    Canelo actually had a freeview fight but was injured or something,I reckon it's one of the reasons Canelo had no fights/tune ups at middleweight as they couldn't sell em as PPV,just makes sense now why they trolled everyone with Chavez as it worked a treat for Oscar and sold loads.

    Actually his fight with Kirkland I think was on HBO, maybe Angulo, but he's obviously going PPV from here on out.

    Pac is a FIGHTER!!! Given a fair crack of the whip he always gave his best
    Now Mayweather ?? Different story Name me ONE of his PPV's that was VFM There isn't one
    While fans keep buying the farces PPV will remain

    Atleast those two guys go in and fight. Floyd charges the same for 12 rounds of running and holding.

    I didn't think to include Floyd because he's out of the game, but yes Floyd was king. Roy Jones Jr. was bad also, in fact I think he pioneered the "every one of my fights is deserving of PPV" idea.

    Youre a flo.mo arent you? I can tell how you refused to say anything negative about floyd then referred to him as the king and then went on to throw Roy under the bus.

    No actually you misunderstood. Floyd is king, king of "all my fights are deserving of PPV". I did throw RJJ under the bus also in that regard, but at the same time think he happens to be one of the greatest talents the sport has ever seen. Doesn't mean all of his fights were worthy of ppv though.

    Canelo was supposed to be on PPV but Floyd took the date. Canelo had tonfight the following weekend and on regular HBO. But it mattered little since HBO paid him really well.

    Canelo still owes HBO a non PPV per the contract he signed when he switched over from showtime.

    It was supposed to happen last December but he injured his hand.

    It'll most likely happen this December

    It needs to go away. Can't understand why we, as fans, would want PPV. I'd rather just have commercials.

    The answer to this is obvious While fools dish out $70 EVEN $100 on BS PPV's & get shafted again & again PPV is here to stay

    I don't think so, I believe there will come a time when you have the option to buy an individual fight instead of the whole card.

    Sort of like when fighters sell tickets themselves and get a percentage, so PPV buys will be individual, so for example I buy Joshua Vs Wilder on PPV as a Joshua fan (maybe enter a code as I purchase) and AJ gets the number/revenue.

    It will end PPV splits, percentage negotiations that cause problems, if you're popular and supported then you earn the money.
