what is the biological reason that heavyweights hit harder

    For years, scientists have been left baffled by this mysterious phenomenon, Just how is it possible for a 250lb male to hit harder than a 125lb male? This is a question that has baffled science for 100's of year's UNTIL NOW.

    New research from the University of J.Kyle Has shown that the biological reason behind this strange phenomenon is PLACEBO, heavyweights simply think that because they are so much bigger than their featherweight counterparts this automatically means they can hit harder. Researcher's at the J.Kyle institute hypnotized 8 heavyweight fighters and had them believe they weighed 125lbs, All 8 participants in the study were instructed to play the "punchboxer" arcade machine where their punching power scores were recorded before and after hypnotism, Leading researcher Mr Jeremy Kyle discovered that after hypnotism 7 out of 8 of the participants punching power was reduced on average by 52%, Unfortunately we were unable to get an accurate reading from the final fighter by the name of malik scott as when instructed to punch "punchboxer" he simply ran around the machine a few times before dropping to the floor clutching his face. We are not sure if something went wrong during the hypnotism process with this individual.

    Generally speaking, probably not. But they could allow women who want to compete against men in the same weight class. Make em' sign a waiver and **** it. See what happens.

    In another breakthrough in scientific research, scientists have discovered why people who get run over by a small car have a greater chance of surviving compared to those who get run over by a bulldozer.

    In other news, being taller does not always correlate with larger Dik size, and according to the University of Trolen, women pee sitting down because their genitals are inside their bodies.

    This has been done. See Lucia Rijker. It didn't work out well, despite her technique being superior.

    This may be an incredibly stupid question, but could someone explain why boxers power doesn't increase as they move up in weight. If their mass goes up then shouldn't guys like Mayweather and Pacquiao increase their power when they move up instead of decrease?

    This is more due to the fact than when moving up in weight you are dealing with bigger fighters who have better punch resistance, Many and floyd are not natural prime 147 pounders imo, They were both prime between 130-140, Even if they can't make that weight now its still their prime natural weight class,Once you move up in weight its hard for your body to go back down, No reason many or floyd could not have stayed at 140 their entire career. There are guys at 147 who could never have come close to making 130 or 140 at any point in their career's, These are the natural welter weights who are likely to have an advantage over a guy moving up but you do have your exceptions where fighters move up and gain more power.

    Many factors come into play. But weight is the main factor. Second is velocity It comes down to how much of your total body weight and how much velocity can you funnel on to the impact point of the punch. So let's say you have a 140 lbs fighter who puts his full weight on to the impact point, plus has great velocity from the beginning to the end of his thrown punch. He will generate a punch of 140lbs multiplied by velocity. Now take a 160lbs fighter who only puts 50% of his total body weight into his punch and has 50% of the velocity of the 140lbs fighter. Even though the 160lbs fighter is heavier, the 140lbs fighter will hit harder. Reason: he is able to put more of his total body weight at a higher velocity on to the impact point of his punch. Bam, greater impact!

    The other factors are what cause the difference in punching power between 2 fighters that are equal in weight and velocity.

    It's weight transfer folks, a key component of technique in boxing. 215lbs of force transferred correctly will always be > 150lbs of weight transferred.

    Your frame doesn't get bigger. Building muscle you're just slapping more flesh on the same chassis. The only time you see a noticeable increase to power is when somebody had previously been draining to make a weight far below their natural one, ie Broner or JCC Jr., where they had decent power hitting lighter ceilings because they rehydrated so much and then once in their "natural" stomping grounds they punch like the actual welterweight or super middleweight they always truthfully were before transforming into human raisins to make limits to beat up smaller guys.
