WTF?! That animal and habitual criminal Rocky ''The Bad Boy of German Boxing'' Rocchigiani clocked Dariusz with a savage Billy Goat Ward butt followed by a vicious uppercut, and then he cracked him with an absolutely brutal Frazier-esque left hook after the referee had called break ie a foul. That was the best left hand Rocky ever threw. Most fighters would've been spreadeagled out cold on the canvas after eating that combo.

And Dariusz won that fight or rather ''Darisuz'' won it lol

Oh, and any chance we'll be seeing a ranking of the best fights in each division eventually? What with the recent interest in the best heavyweight fights, I'd like to see a top ten for light heavyweight or middleweight.

I only skipped Cruiser (for now) because I have a decision I need to make. For some reason, Ring Magazine stopped ranking all but the original 8 weight classes in 1987 and 1988. I hate the idea of doing the rankings with a 2 year gap, but I also hate the idea of excluding the Ring rankings from before the gap.

    So I need to either:
    1. Start at 1989 and ignore the rankings that were kept pre-1987
    ~or~
    2. Just work with whichever data I have available, and have a two year gap that doesn't reflect anything from 1987 and 1988

I'm still not sure what to do. But for Super Middleweight, there was no problem, as Ring didn't start ranking that class until 1989 anyway.

For the other interim classes, there's some weird gaps in the Ring Magazine history that are driving me nuts.

See my previous post in this thread. I'm debating with myself here still on this.

Oh, I will definitely loop back and do one that at some point.

I just need to decide to:

    1. Just log 1989-2016
    2. Include every year Ring rated cruisers, which is 1983-86, 1989-2016

Rummy this is your wackiest #10-20 list yet  Mundine, Jack and DeGale ahead of Toney?
But the top 10 is decent.

Just a thought, what if for title defenses part of the equation you only counted title defenses against Ring's top 10 rated fighters? I think Calzaghe's and Ottke's numbers would drop like a rock.

I gave your post a like Rummy and as you probably know I am a big fan of the SMW division but how in your list could you have C Eubank so low?
Eubank didnt lose in 19 world title fights.
Eubank drew with WBC champ Benn, beat undefeated (relinquished IBF SMW title) Rocchigiani, Malinga who would go on to win a SMW title, Wharton, Watson, Holmes who had been a SMW champ, Thornton, Close, Essett, Jarvis All world rated.

I never thought it could be in any doubt when you look at SMW achievements that the top 3 would be Calzaghe, Eubank and Ottke.

I would argue Collins has a greater SMW than several like Jones, Toney, Ward with 2 wins over Eubank, 2 wins over Benn and a win over Sellier.
Kessler has done well with wins over undefeated WBC champ Froch, WBC champ Beyer, Mundine between WBA SMW reigns, undefeated future WBA SMW champ Sartison, WBA SMW champ Siaca, WBA SMW champ Magee, Lucas, Andrade, Haussler. I would hold Kesslers resume a bit above Frochs

Rummy!!! How could you not have Ottke in your top 10??? Crazy.
Ottke has a very good SMW resume which I would argue is greater at the weight than at least 8 others on there

Did you ever see that thread down in classics where they counted how many top ten guys a fighter beat in his career? Maxie Rosenbloom had like double Ray Robinson, Archie Moore, or Henry Armstrongs numbers if I recall correctly. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/hall-of-famers-vs-top-10-contenders.445922/

Ottke was an absolute joke and shouldn't even be ranked within the top 20. This guy jacked it in when the pressure to fight Calzaghe was at its highest.

There was never any mention of Calzaghe every time he won a fight. In the post fight interviews they acted like Joe never existed over in Germany.

He made a mockery out of the sport with his track sized boxing ring in which he mugged , robbed and cheated honest decent challengers out of a fair opportunity for over a decade. The guy wasn't entertaining either , he was pure tedious to watch. Its great shame nobody ever levelled him out for the count , but then again he was smart enough to avoid anybody who had the potential.

I rank Glen Johnson above Ottka in the SMW rankings despite losing all his biggest fight at the weight. With fair judging he would have won them all.

You make a good point about Eubank. I saw him in the top 10 and was satisfied but he'd beat Froch or Kessler. He's probably not beating Calzaghe, Jones Jr, Ward, or Toney but I can see a good case to move him up to like 5th. And even though they were head to head monsters at super middleweight and possibly could have campaigned there longer, Jones and Toney just didn't spend enough time at the weight to really solidify that top ten rep. Toney just spread his legacy out over 5 divisions getting one or two good wins in each of them. (MW Nunn, McCallum, SMW Barkley, Williams, CW Jirov, HW Holyfield, Ruiz ) Pound for pound he might be better than anyone else on that list but the least accomplished at that weight class.
