A true rags to riches story and a shining inspiration for anyone down on their luck that they too can find redemption in life with the right attitude. The flag of boxing will fly at half mast as we come to terms with the loss, goodnight sweet prince, you will be sorely missed. Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs (mid 90's to 2017) - LET'S GO CHAMP!
"Everywhere you go, I go - Everything you eat, I eat" = Remember when Wlad was rowing on the lake when his greatest rival appears to help him along with his training Klitchsko and Briggs made an odd couple but are linked together forever from their many japes and run-ins over the years, theirs was a bond of mutual respect mixed with fierce rivalry - each fuelled the other to ever greater heights. Wladimir was wise enough not to step between the ropes against 'The Cannon' as was Haye but I don't blame either, Briggs victims were never the same afterwards and health is paramount. We may never see his likes again. (I keep thinking of the scene in the film 'The Champ' when that crying kid keeps pleading "wake up champ")
Its no real surprise about finding some positive readings. He was more desperate to try keep relevent on the world stage it was always a real strong temptation. That has to be it for him now, what a great long career, the biggest highlight for me didnt happen in the ring though it was when he made Wlad fall off a paddle board by pestering him with a speed boat and megaphone. Just the funniest.
They gonna just award Oquendo the belt then? What a hilarious anticlimax, dude chases a world title for decades and claims to be robbed a dozen times (and was arguably half a dozen of those) and then finally gets his wish on a technicality because a lifelong known-but-not-proven cheat like Shannon pees dirty.
Disgraceful if true. These guys should honestly go to jail. Wasnt too long ago he battered someone on the haye show. What if he,d done some kind of permanent damage to him. I love briggs think hes brilliant...but some things are inexcusable. Again you ve got guys trying to be fair getting an unfair shake against drug cheats.
The Vitali bromance was out of control but yeah, the dude is a character but this does not shock me in the least.
Yeah not shocking in the slightest. So I guess it's either Ortiz who's ranked number 1 or Ustinov who's ranked 2 who'll face Oquendo.
