Something like "The 5 Greatest Wins In The History Of Boxing" will always be subjective along the lines of personal favourites. With the heavyweight division the greatest show on earth I'll stick with the big boys. This content is protected No one expected Ali to survive let alone win yet he lifted himself to the heights that only great champions can. While Ali's defensive tactics played a big part in his win what many often overlook is the number of lead straight rights that Ali landed flush throughout the fight, especially in the early rounds. They surely took their toll on the "invincible force" This content is protected Another fight in which Ali was expected to be slaughtered. The brutal Liston had to much power said the experts but the problem was that he just couldn't land. Ali moved like a lightweight and completely outclassed the champion, giving Liston such a beating he quit on his stool. This content is protected Even though Ruiz will never go down as a great heavyweight champion there were those that felt his size and style would be to much for the pound for pound champion, breaking him down before taking him out. It takes a special fighter to win world titles from middleweight to heavyweight and on that historical night he cemented his place as an ATG. This content is protected While Braddock had found something like the form of old it didn't compare to Baer's who had developed into a worthy heavyweight champion. Coming into the fight Max Baer had stopped Tully Griffiths, Max Schmelling and the giant Primo Carnera. He had also got his brutal revenge on Ernie Schaaf two years after Ernie gave him a towelling, evidence that Baer had come of age. Yet against all odds Braddock went the distance before winning by decision against a smart champion that had once killed a man in the ring. This content is protected Foreman was considered by some as sad joke when he announced his return to the ring and the only person that believed he could reclaim his title was himself. Even Moorer underestimated the once feared ex-champ, standing in the center of the ring trading blows with a man once revered for his brutal power. Behind on points Foreman needed a knock out and that's exactly what he delivered, his right hand landing flush on Moorer's chin. The look on Foreman's face as he stood in the corner was that of a man redeemed, realising he had won back the title he lost all those years ago in Zaire. Had to rate as one of the greatest fairytales in the history of sport.
What junk? Was young Terry Norris not the vast underdog? He was, making him as the David to the Goliath. :yep Did Terry not shut him out and put him in a cage? :yep Did he not humble Ray Leonard? :yep Did he not put a stop to all the taunting? :yep Did he not make him look ordinary? :yep Did he not retire him? :yep I speak nothing but truth when I say he utterly defeated Leonard in a brilliant display of raw courage and speed not seen since a young jr lighweight named Camacho was introduced to the world of boxing. Even leonard's so called psychological games were of no effect so he didn't even have that satisfaction. He sure as hell didn't win the staredown because he didn't have the nerve to look Terry in the eye for fear of having himself psyched out. He just can't win a fight when the opponent has something going for him. He sucks just as I always said.
I'd say it's a general and well-fed expectation. Extraordinary -I'd agree. The last Miske win over Brennan is a definite possibility but I am not yet convinced that the fight was on the level. If it was, I'd put it at 5 or 6 -based on the drama of it alone, though not the greatness of either.
I am a film noir buff. The photo reflects it. It also reminds me of rainy Boston nights in another -better- era. I'm a native Bostonian -born in the wrong era. (I wear sharkskin suits for crying out loud. Where am I?) Tell me about this endless supply of women in yours. Are you a gigolo? Are they friends?
Thanks mate, it's a classy intriguing pic i have been wondering about for ages. There's just something about it that gets me in. As for the gals, i've snuck the odd one known to me in (not many tho) but now and then grab a classy non porn pic if come across it and keep it for an avatar changing day. I like the girl next door stuff rather than the more plastic look.
How can Haglers win over Hearns be the greatest in all of sport, given Hearns was previously beaten by Leonard then?
Yeah sorry, I think I didn't express myself clearly. He was the man to beat at MW when he got screwed with the first Antuofermo fight and then wait for 3 years before getting the title. I meant that win against Hearns is the career defining moment of Hagler, a fight that finally gave him superstar status.
