Murata is considering retirement from boxing after the questionable loss to Ndam.

    This past weekend fight fans saw Japanese star Ryota Murata (12-1, 9) [村田 諒太] suffer and at the hands of the judges, who subjected him to hugely controversial split decision loss to French-based fighter Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam (36-2, 21). Since that results we've seen a host of stories but perhaps the most damning are yet to come, with Murata himself yet to state whether or note he's even going to continue as a professional boxer.

    The Japanese media are reporting that Murata has several options on the table, including a rematch with N'dam for the WBA title as well as a potential WBO title fight in the year, but the fighter himself is said to be considering walking away from professional boxing, and hasn't yet committed to a ring return, leading to more speculation.

    As we all saw the 2012 Olympic champion was robbed by the judges this past Saturday, a decision so bad that the WBA head honcho Gilberto Mendoza apologised for the outcome. That outcome has seen Bob Arum come out and suggest the bout should be made a No Contest, stating it was worse that Timothy Bradley's win over Manny Pacquiao, the JBC have asked the WBA to have their judges explain it, and even a small number have suggested the result should be overturned, like Kerry Hope's bout with Petchsuriya Singwancha.

    All hope is that Murata will tell Teiken to make the rematch with N'Dam but there is a real fear that Murata will wave goodbye to the professional game in disgust, and he certainly wouldn't be the first fighter to do so with Dave Tiberi being a very famous example of a fighter who simply walked away after the judges denied him of a win.

    A decision is expected from Murata next week, but understandably he's in no rush to make a decision.

    That's a shame if he walks but it is his prerogative to do so, can't blame the man for his reasons.

    Boxing is just so damn corrupt. Even the WBA's apology is pathetic when we really look at it. And there are no punishments for judges, no fines, nothing. There is nothing that is so punitive that it prevents judges from going sideways. That is boxing, a big ****ing banana republic.

    Cant blame him and actually I would respect the honor one has to not make millions if it meant he would be disrespected like that.

    Nah, F that.
    Rematch with Ndam, beat him again, make your money.
    Murata can get himself into position to fight GGG/Canelo for a big payday and set himself up for life.
    He has the talent to compete with the best at 160. A simple robbery shouldnt push him away from the thing which he knows best.

    If the robbery wasn't enough, seeing N'dam celebrate the way he did truly disgusted me.
    How can a man take pride in having a robbery decision go his way? His light, amateurish punches landed on Murata's gloves mostly, all night.

    Murata deserves a re-scoring of the first fight. At least change the status to a Non-Contest.

    Anyone can win a decision by being a better boxer and beating their opponent, Gannicus. But how much rarer and special is it to get a decision you have no earthly expectation to win?

    After a decision like that, I don't doubt for a second that he's seriously thinking about quitting. After a few weeks though, when the offer for the rematch comes in (likely for a career high payday), I fully expect him to take it. He needs, and deserves, to make that money - and if he wins, he can roll that into another payday.

    He won't retire.

    On the bright side, Murata showed world caliber ability. I'd been concerned he had peaked as an amateur and thought N'Dam would beat him without needing a robbery.

    Saw the fight.

    If he's got such thin skin, game aint for him.
    114/113 was a solid score in his favor as NDam controlled action considerably for no less than 5.

    If he thinks that a tough L, he needs to watch KOvalev 117-110 no less than 116-111 robbery loss to Ward.

    Maybe he should be put in contact with Roc Nation. Maybe they can buy him 120-105 score over BJS, even without scoring a KD and Saunders dominating 6 rds.

    I mean hell, they bought Ward a W over Kovalev.

    He just needs a better promoter to ensure the judges are paid for in advance.

    Maybe he can join on with Sturm promotions and win a title at 168.
