When is quitting in a fight unacceptable ?

I only fault a guy for quitting if he legitimately could somehow still get the W. vitali quitting vs Byrd is the only pathetic one, wait, Duran too.

those are the only 2 I question their manhood (best I can describe) because vitali just needed to survive like 2 more rounds and it's clear it slid back in the socket, so take some shots from a byrd and get the W

Duran just flat quit the fight only what, halfway ?
The rest were all fighters with no hope of winning, major injuries or just best downs

Duran quit because knew he will lose.if you not believe yourself it's over..also was out of shape.so it would only went downhill from there.

also Duran think that he will get rematch soon.

yes it's was stupid move.but i undersrand why Duran did it.

 

IMO quitting is acceptable when you have taken a substantial amount of punishment. It doesn't make sense risk serious long term damage in order to look like a tough guy. It's not just about you either, think about how it will effect your family if you get seriously hurt or killed.

 

Pretty black and white, legitimate excuses can be made in some cases. Been watching too much gladiator?

Fighters know when they are done and headed for serious injury, it's their choice if they don't fancy a life long injury, didn't brook give enough of himself in the fight? Was cotto a quitter when he chose not to get continually hammered until his brain was wrecked?

When it comes to your eyes I think there is a panic reflex that scares the heck out of you. If he was worried about going blind I have no problem with him bailing. Only he knows for sure. Surprised his corner didn't come to his rescue when it was obvious that he was having problems in the 11th. They sure didn't waste any time against GGG. Also, in what they showed in the corner after rounds 9 and 10 the corner didn't seem too concerned about the eye. I didn't see any n-swell or anything unless I missed it.
