Hearn has done wonderful things for a lot of his fighters but he's made a right balls of Kell Brooks career. Refused for years to put up the money to bring a top welterweight to England to establish Brooks name in the states and instead fed him to Golovkin. It was lazy greedy promoting from Hearn. We know now that fight has had a detrimental impact on Brooks career.

Only silver lining is that he's made a nice few bob out of it but legacy wise Brook comes nowhere near the better British champions.

His only chance now to cement a good legacy is to move to 154, pick up a strap and convince Khan to fight him at 154 or even 150 catch weight. He can't fight at 147 again.

I suspect Brook's bank balance vindicates Hearn to some degree.

His purse for Golovkin was reported to be somewhere above £3 million, maybe closer to £4 million, and probably as much as all his previous 36 fights combined .

He probably got paid something around £3 million for last night's fight too.

Seems people are happy to blame Hearn for giving him two massive pay days but what was Brooks career with Warren like? Static if I remember rightly and he wasted his best years waiting for big fights. Don't blame Hearn for making Brook millions it doesn't make sense. Anyway Brook makes his own decisions not Hearn.

What do people mean when they say that the fight with GGG has shortened/wrecked his career, do you mean physically or psychologically?

Physically, GGG broke his eye socket. His other eye socket breaking had nothing to do with GGG and everything to do with Spence Jn's fist. It's not like GGG loosened the lid on the jar with his other eye.

Psychologically, he (bravely) battled on for a few rounds with that injury last night before sensibly knocking the fight on the head.

Wa just going to write exactly this. I don't understand what people are going on about here. It's the other eye.

Plus why are people only saying it was a stupid idea now. It was obvious it was the day he signed the Golovkin contract.

I agree he needs to take at least a year out. It's a shame this is how it's turned out for Brook because he really is a talented boxer. I would say he's the most talented boxer Eddie Hearn has tbh.

Post Porter it has really been a mess. You can forgive the mandatories because he has no choice but had he fought Vargas he would have unified the division. Eddie didn't want to stump up the cash.

Golovkin was sold as a 'nothing to lose' fight to Brook but it can't be further from the truth. Golovkin literally broke his face and it looks like this is going to be a recurring problem for Brook. That fight was completely unnecessary. Weight classes exist for a reason. It has nothing to do with having balls or any of that nonsense.

I think they ve mismanaged brook from the very start tbh. Spent too long fighting absolute dummies in his first 15 or so fights. Should have stepped up opponents quicker than they did when it became apparent brook was good. Then began to slowly up it...but even then it was far too slow. Got to n,dou around 24 fights. At that point it was time to start stepping up the levels again. But they kind of kept him fighting around the same level for too long. By the time hearn got him it was time to really kick on...but he was happy keeping him at the same level before chucking him in with porter. Then it was time to really kick on. Instead for whatever reason genuine or not he took him backwards in terms of levels. All the while...brooks missing out on his prime years. Weight makings getting harder. Then chucking him in with golovkin. Which should never have been allowed to be made in the first place. Its actually been a car crash from the start. Should be a lesson in how not to manage a fighter. Wasted his potential imo.

I'm not a fan of Hearn but I'm certainly a fan of the current standard of matchmaking compared to that of 10-15 years ago and he's played a large part in that. It's one of the reasons the sport's so healthy in this country today.

A win over GGG would've shot Brook's rep stratospheric. He'd have been in with Mayweather on Saturday if he'd have pulled it off. More importantly it would have vindicated his talent being wasted for so long. So I don't blame him rolling the dice with that opportunity and I don't blame Hearn for opening the door to it.

The whole situation reminds me a little of David Reid, minus the decade of wasted potential.

Side note, Thurman's going to box the ears off Spence.

GGG wrecked his face? The broke eye socket on the other eye is is going to weaken his facial structure

When people say 'when you break a bone it's stronger '

Yes that is true to an extent (at the break) but calcification and less flexibility can distribute force elsewhere .

    His face is ruined

first of all, brook's career has not been ruined. The guy has made a lot of money in boxing when you consider the average boxer. So his career has been a success. Secondly, the fight with GGG was win win. It gave him worldwide recognition and he only fought half the fight. He came out with a moral victory.....plus this was a fight that brook asked for after Eustank Jr dropped the pen....

I think the real reason why they didn't push Brook along too early is bc he could not stay out of the kitchen. For god's sake, he calls his right hand "chocolate brownaaeeee" This showed up in the carson jones fight. When he really started to get serious with this training, the promoters moved him along accordingly.

Whether or not his conditioning will improve at 154 is an unknown but it was very apparent that he wasn't liking those body shots.

at 154, they will test his body and his skull.....at this point he definitely needs to be matched carefully. If he can get a few opponents like Khan and Chris Algierie, plenty of money for him to make before fighting the likes of charlo...etc.

Sorry mate, but I need some kind of evidence to believe that. Breaking one eye socket will not weaken the other eye socket or his facial structure, especially after it's been repaired. I'm happy to be proved wrong but that sounds daft to me.

Can't remember the exact mechanics behind it but covered in uni like 15 years ago

Broken bones get thicker and less flexible which means surrounding areas more likely to fracture
