difference between quitting because of beat down and potencial perminant blindness

Major beatdowns can cause potential permanent brain damage so it's not that big a difference.

 

I wish McClellen had quit soon after the clash of heads with Nigel Benn. I wish Gary Mason had quit when his eye got demolished and he ended up blinded. And i bet they wished that themselves (RIP GARY).

Yet i wish Andre Dirrell had admitted he was good to continue against Abraham/Uzkecatui although he was clearly dying.

 

Quitting is never near as big of a deal as fanboy keyboard warriors who've never been in a fight in their whole damn lives make it out to be. It's boxing. Your brain is getting rattled and your ribs are getting busted. Nothing wrong with admitting defeat.

If brook is fighting with fears like that then his career is done. You cant have stuff like that in the back of your mind as a fighter

You are saying that he should have.

I am saying that there is nothing wrong with stopping it yourself before it gets that far. The 27,000 in attendance aren't making payments to Brook for years to come. He owes them, you, and me absolutely nothing.

Considering Brook took on GGG and then after he busted up his eyesocket takes on another talented puncher, going up from WW to MW then boiling down to WW again. I think we can cut Brook a lot of slack. It's a none issue.

Brook has too much bravery for his own good. That's what really going on.

 

So he should have just "acted" concussed from a particular shot, rolled around on the floor, reach for the ropes and stumble when he reaches his feet at the count of 10? So that people on here would believe it was a legit KO as opposed to him "quitting?"

I have no problem with Brook quitting, under those circumstances, it was very understandable. My issue is with those who call him a warrior. A Warrior listens to his heart more than his brain, a sane person does the opposite. Brook did what most of us would have done.

 

Agree. My beef is when you quit and make an excuse for why you quit.

 

If you are at your absolute limits then why continue? Fighters fight for more than just themselves. There is no point in risking your life.
Plenty of fighters die every year due to injuries suffered in ring. No need to risk it.

 

I don't see why it has to be that extreme. To me being a warrior means being very brave. Doesn't mean you can't be smart too.
