Knowing that there seems to be a very high risk of injury inside the ring and after their career? I have no issues saying that I myself would never be a full time boxer, the body just isn't designed to take that many blows to the head on a regular basis. A couple years earning a few millions and a trophy wife can't sweeten permanent injury....

when i was younger i wanted a son and i wanted him to be at least a seasoned amateur and planned to teach him from a very young age. but honestly now that im older id much rather a girl... and if i did have a boy id get him involved in footy for sure.. i always tell people if i could take all the skill and training iv acquired from boxing and put it into another sport, i would not even have a second thought an there is about 10 different sports id choose from. why put yourself through all the **** ? gotta buy your own gear , you train harder for your fights and its more taxing on the body then say footy (AFL) and for what? you dont get paid for your fights ... rocking up on monday to work with concussion most weeks from heavy sparring, most footy guys i know get a few hundred a week for playing, they get free massage therapy and only train once or twice during the week, play a game on the weekend and sink **** for the rest of it.
making it is incredibly difficult tho, another thing i forgot to mention is just how ****ing corrupt the sport is... you see multi million dollar fights turn in bull**** scorecards and you shake your head but you KNOW what caused those score cards to be the way they are (MONEY) but iv seen just as blatant robbery's in the amateurs in my local competitions. you can be a great fighter, your trainer is so good he is worth his weight in gold.. but because you arent known among the small boxing community and other gyms are you are very unlikely to go without a few robberys on your way to the top. its sad, it truly is
I'm no way near the level of having a kid yet but no I wouldn't. Boxing for me is a guilty pleasure. I would have him train in MMA from the very beginning though, but I'd push him towards cricket and football.
Yea I rem going to high school and getting battered by all the lads that boxed from primary school . My karate and judo training from a young age meant nothing. Got a right shoeing every week I would definitely like them to have a few amateur fights and if they like it carry on .
I have a gorgeous little girl, she is allowed to be the ring card girl lol.. Maybe she can score me some free ringside seat
Depends on the child I would think. If they show an aptitude for well compensated professional work then I'm sure most parents would steer them in that direction. However, if it is between being a pro fighter and bagging groceries or running the street game then most parents would be fine with the former.
