If Adrien Broner defeats Mikey Garcia... will his hype come back?

Right in his face, just like Juan Manuel Lopez, if I remember correctly.

 

To me it seems he can't really compete at 147 with the top tier talent, but he also can't make 140. I think this will be kind of like Chavez JR. where everyone is just interested if he'll make weight. I doubt he can really compete with Mikey, but this is the theatre of the unexpected, he might buckle down for this, but once again it's eerily similar to Chavez JR.

 

I will give him all the credit in the world if he beats Garcia. Will the hype come back to pre-Maidana level? I doubt it. That ship has sailed.

 

Hype is fascinatingly easy to turn the corner.

 

I really don't think Broner is 100% in boxing anymore. Ever since Maidana, I think he really lost a step.

The guy is fine physically IMO. If he could learn common sense, he actually does have the potential to revive his career and become one of the best fighters at 140/maybe even 147.

He is only 27, and has a lot of skills and talents, just doesn't take the game that seriously it seems.

 

It's more believable that Garcia is a hypejob than it is to believe Broner is underrated. So no.

 

Don't believe many will still hold Broner in high regard even if he does make weight (he won't) and beats Garcia (doubt it).
The damage to his reputation has been done. He's a Welter that boils down (or tries to at least) to 140, and when he can't he's basically just contender level.

I think it depends 'how up for it' Broner is. I don't buy into the fact that he struggles to make 140, I honestly think if he he wanted to he could make it quite easily, it looks to me like he doesn't seem bothered. Undoubtedly a very skilled boxer who on his day could give Garcia a very tough night, however I think Garcia by fairly wide UD. I hope I'm wrong though and Broner actually turns up.

 

Whatever else you can say about Broner, he takes tough fights.
